Or are you talking about bored over build $ 500 just to dip @ bore block $1,000 up to what ever you want Going from the Chevy to Ford , Pretty much has been coverd Its Up to you , Its olnly Time & money
I have a SBF in a deuce and the pan rail is level with the ch***is rail. I have no idea why your is 6" higher (hard to tell in the pics.) Maybe the builder wasn't quite up to it. I live in a land where lots of hot rods of all years have SBF engines, both W & C. We built the C engines into 80's and they are very common. Use a short oil filter, easy. I think there are a lot of cry babies about SBF fitment. We have to deal with pedals, starter and steering all on the same side and seem to cope. As far as the question that started this thread, who gives a ****, it's got a cheap easy engine already, rebuild it or get a fresh crate and move on. BTW, where is the OP?
Cleveland would make more sense than the 302, at least then you would actually be gaining something over the chevy.
Yeah, you don't want a 302 Ford in your hot rod, people keep asking you "why?" And they don't know it but they answered their own question. ( Why not?) Only drawback I've found is parts are 10- 20% more for a SBF. ( and you CAN get a short water pump and pulley set to reduce the length by 2 1/2 inches Also a short oil filter- Fram PH16 )
