305 Intake on a 350 Engine. Loose Push Rod.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tattedkat, Apr 15, 2013.

  1. Whats Up Fellas,
Have two questions. Started a Redo of Some Idiots Job that worked on my car. Anyways, My Rear Seal was leaking on my freshly rebuilt 69' 350. I Used a 305 intake on the 350 because I was told they are Compatible. Is that True? Second Question, When I Removed the Intake I happened to notice that one Push Rod was loose. Another with a 1/4 inch play. All the others were firm. Whats this about? I was running strong prior to tooking the intake off.
    Thanks.

Intake should be fine.... no difference that I know of. Sounds like the rockers need adjusted or tightened down!!

1/4" play and you didn't hear any lifter noise? Pull the rocker covers off and have a look at how far the nut on the rockers with the loose pushrods are threaded onto the studs compared to the tight ones. If it looks the same, start looking for a broken rocker shaft or rocker arm or who knows what.

Rear intake leak? Use a quality silicone on the CLEAN block surface and lay a nice nightcrawler sized bead evenly from one side+ to the next. Intake must have clean surface too. More information needed on this sloppy pushrod. When its fixed properly, a doughnut whippin' is in order for Ed!
