305 vortec head differences from 350 vortec head

Discussion in 'Off Topic Hot Rods & Customs' started by The Chevy Pope, Nov 29, 2024.

  1. I've got a spare set of 520 vortec heads from a 97 305 that have been redone. I have a complete 96 vortec 350 that despite not remembering the casting I know I was told it's the "good" casting. Plan was to run the 350 as is while I rebuild another vortec headed 350 to replace it with before rebuilding the current 350. I was thinking as I'm not going for all our power id run the 305 vortecs. Are the intake valves 1.84 like 305 ho or are they 1.94 like 350 vortec?

I read the 305 chambers are smaller. Is that true.
Was looking into putting a set on a flat top piston 307 . Want to get the compression around 10-1. Looking for a cheap way to get a bit more power in process.

    Cheap intakes are avaliable.

Are they smaller chamber than 64cc 461's

    That would help .
Would be a bit less milled slightly.

A dozen aftermarket aluminum intakes and I'd need to buy a new one LOL.

What did those 305 Vortec engines make ? I bet it's comparable or more than if they had 461 heads .
