    I need a recipe for a stout 305 for a sprint car.

    Flat top pistons

    Factory heads, no porting

    Factory block

    No roller cam

    Injection=2 3/16" Max, or Max 750cfm carb

    Stock appearing crank-No knife edging...

    Racing on a 1/6mi. oval.......yes 1/6mi.

    What should I build?

    He has an awesome recipe for a 305 using "Stock" parts.

    How about a .030 over 302 with Vortec heads. The Vortec heads are about the best flowing factory small block head and they have small combustion chambers to get the compression up with flat top pistons. Big bore/short stroke engine let's you get the rpm's up to make the most horsepower available with limited cubic inches.

    A buddy and I once built one to the 325 hp, 327 specs. Used the OEM Crane cam grind with 58cc heads that we did some minor cleaning on. Stock valves and 11:1 pistons. Performer intake and a Holley 600. Small tube headers. It ran on premium due to the valve over lap and cam timing. (can't remember that) Car was a '79 Camaro RS. Really stout. No one ever believed it was a 305.
