Hot Rods 30A Coupe gets some Paint

  1. Mr Chev it was a hit and run. What you got was a drive by bashing. ;)

Here is the deal nearly no one in the upholstery business uses anything but bonded leather, it is way to expensive to buy it just peeled off the cow ( or pig?) and tanned for them to stay in business. You have to ask yourself this question does anyone ever sit on a couch? and if they do, do they sit on a couch any more or any less then they sit in a car? Cars get hotter and colder than your house (I hope) and that may be some reason for concern but even at that I'll just about bet that your leather bonded or not will hold up for another 20 or 30 years anyway. By then you'll be tired of the upholstery and want something different.

That said wanna buy my commercial sewing machine cheap? I'll make you a deal with conditions. OK?

well, I've got a 56 Ford F100 front axle with spindles to use as tradin' material, springs too.
I do have a good lead on a machine that's about 5 blocks from my house. just trying to find the daughter of the deceased upholsterer. don' t want to bother the widow, but, he's been gone 8-10 years, maybe it wouldn't be a bother.

I'm not the leather guy :D I left because the blonde is gone :D
Its, very difficult to tell if what you have is bonded leather, as they make bonded leather look very much like the real thing from both sides.

It isn't true that there is almost no one that uses real hides in the furniture industry, a search will bring up a few that make a point of saying that they use real hides and not bonded leather but again what they sell is pricey.

The leather you have looks nice, and should be great on your seats.

There was no bashing intended, just trying to be informative. A lot of people don't actually know the difference. :)
By the way, I really like redheads too

I had the same idea for my interior. Post pics of your progress. And I like the satin black too.

Leather will look great with the car, but you'll need a few maroon and cream pin stripes to tye em together.

it's going to my friend Bill Beckner, the best pinstriper on the East Coast. I'm gonna give him a chunk of the leather and walk away. he'll do his magic and i'll show you the results.

Sure looks like leather through and through. Bonded usually looks like cloth on the back side.

  8. Car looks good. Good luck finding a blonde, or sewing machine.

that's cause I write some really big checks.
those where done by Bill the Pinstriper. one is a chalk stick, the pencil and one you don't see is a Crayola crayon. probably 20 years old.

  14. I was just going off of experience with the upholstery guys never thought to use the internet.

The bashing thing was tongue in cheek maybe I should have used the rolly eyes guy. I just find the roll eyes thing to be more offensive then a wink I guess. Anyway no offense intended.

Your Satin Black makes an excellent base for the red pinstripes. I doubt that the "good stuff" would have looked any better so you had a win there.
