I can drive at night now. Also rear suspension has improved a bit with my newly mounted shocks.

    New fix it list

    - cage
    - belts
    - brake leak
    - engine running rich
    - floor
    - catch can
    - coolant leak at motor mount / timing cover
    - windshield / frame
    - center mount for visor ( fix the floppy floppy )
    - balance d-shaft
    - change oil / filter
    - fix ( buy decent tach ) el cheapo keeps going to zero on me
    - fix high idle
    - cowl
    - f / r pan hard bars

I keep driving it though. Funny I don't want to work on it anymore, just drive it. LOL

I'm not selling it. I threw that up there for a few days and a couple shows to see what kind of reaction I would get. Some were like WTF ? then I actually got a people asking about it.

    I think I could get 16-18 If I wanted to sell but I don't.

    A couple updates :

    - New gas tank, no booty fab air tank / bungies
    - Rear expanded metal window
    - Jenn made me some sweet ass pads

Been to busy driving it to want to work on it. Next on the list is safety stuff, belts, cage, floor,

Chopperman, I was @ Hot Friday Nites in Auburn---How many people asked about the H.A.M.B. plaque? I did explain it to a couple of people standing around admiring yor effort----with their eyes (and mouths!) wide open!!
I was hoping to find you, but guess I was there @ wrong times--- However, there were MANY comments, ALL COMPLIMENTARY, on the quality of your building skills!! Many comments about the quality of your welding, especially around the rear end/spring perch. A shame that some of the HAMBer's commenting on your thread can't see in person the thought and quality that you put into this.
I personally liked the humor in your description on the registration card--that along with the nos oil leak!!
Thanx so much for showing us how it is/was done----Your efforts and skills are just better in person!! Your car was a real treat among all the cookie-cutter rods @ Auburn! Great to see your effort in person!!

Well I don't have a ton of updates. I've been working nasty hours, working on the house a lot and I have another project I'm working on.

Here are some updated pics though ( still no floor ). Got some stripes and a windshield.

It's good that you pointed out that it was a "'31 five window coupe" I'd hate to think that anyone would want to cut up an extremely rare "31 three window". I'm sorry, a pet peeve is everyone saying something about a "31 five window" THEY'RE ALL THAT WAY...

    hey chopperman... NICE work.

i like your home built truck arms for the rear suspension.
I noticed that you ran them straight fwd/aft instead of angled like in a '60's chevy truck... your setup is more like ladder bars.
    is that working out well?
it seems that it gives you more room for other things under the car.
    thanks for posting this all!

Thanks. As a newbie I didn't know. It is comforting to know that there are people out there like you that are all over this stuff, especially with people just starting.

A pet peeve of mine is when people add no value to someone's build thread.

    Thanks Again

I works great. It's a LOW BUCK set-up for sure and could use a panhard ( i think ). The 28 Sedan I'm building now has a triangulated 4 link and coil overs using same type of frame. Do a search under my name and you can see that set up. It's much better, but the system on the coupe cost me nothing.

  27. Technically you're wrong, they weren't "ALL THAT WAY"... what about the "sport coupe"? those were 3 window.

...Great build, by the way. I've been following it since the beginning and it inspires me to get out there and work on mine!

    Update...

Well after working on POPCHOPS ride for the last 10 months, I'm now able to start were I left off on my ride.

I will be pulling the car completely apart this month, fabbing a floor, some sort of 40's-50's dash ( depends on what I can find on the cheap ), fixing all of the short cuts I made on the fist pass, rebuilding the red ram, installing a new TCI 727 ( same as rebuilding my junker that slips 3rd ), and ditching the piece of shit S10 rear end that's in it now and putting in a ????.

All this while rebuilding an OLDS straight 8 flathead for ????

    :D
