You sir. are a fabricating monster. I wish I had the time to put into my Chrysler coupe. I guess that is the problem with turning a hobby into a full blown shop. Looks like I will be moving into a much larger space real soon. That probably means I will have even less time for my own projects. Keep posting the pics. I am building vicariously through you.. I can do that right? After all, You are using some parts you got from me....EVILT
It feels like I'm getting nowhere.... I made huge progress when I went from saw horses to jack stands, but now no matter what I get done I just feel like I'm " STUCK"...... I should be a full roller by tomorrow though... Need to do the following tomorrow - adapt a GM mount to a Mopar trans and build a x-member - mount spring hangers on axle - make lower arm perches - make lower arm x- member - attach it all and push it out of the garage Also ordered up 3 97's from stromberg97 here on the HAMB.... Can't wait to fire the engine
Well didn't get to roll it out of the garage but I'm closer. I've been sick and my motivation was shit today. Spent all day in the garage, but the progress was slow. Finished the trans mount, made the lowers, and some other small stuff not pictured. I opted to use a GM mount instead of the HUGE ass mopar mopar mount, so I needed to make an adpater plate Best part about fabing is hunting for nuts and bolts right ?:mad3:
Should be OK. Putting the body on tomorrow to check with weight. I'm 250 and I bounced up and down on it and it didn't come close.
This is a great thread and buildup. I've been looking for a 30-31 5 window body for some time for my next project. This car is an inspiration. I've also been using cast gray on engines and lots of other parts. It goes with everything and has a more business-like look to it. I even saved a pitted air cleaner top on this one. I was going to do the pitted chrome valve cover too. Then I bought some Eastwood platinum that I thought would be a nice contrast but I just couldn't resist these smooth polished valve covers. They fit the simple theme of my parts chaser. Hope to have it up and running mid summer. Tom
OK today I tore it all aprt and welded it up, set the body on and ROLLED IT OF THE GARAGE. YES YES YES. PROGRESS baby... My son was pumped. He kept saying lets go for a ride, lets go for a ride. LOL. I kept telling him I lost the keys.... The last pic with me and my Son really pics it into perspective as to how small this thing really is.
Man that is a good lookin ride. This thread is like CRACK. Just can't get enuf and when I am really fiending bad you come up with a fix for the weekend. hahaha
Nope... probably end up fabbing something myself. A buddy of mine brought a speedway arm over and it was wayyy to short ( threads ) to go through the caliper brackets. Pretty easy piece to make ( 4 hours ). Make a hoop, thread the ends, and weld up some diamond plate to match my ladders and hurst mount... You know it's all about the little touches. I'll just copy you... LOL
Nice... just read the whole thread, your ride is coming along great! congrat's on the progress and good luck with the rest... i'm very inspired on your build. best wishes and looking forward to more progress posts about your coupe. CAB
Funny you brought that up.. I was just fitting it up the other night. and it aint gonna fit. It's sitting on the axle in this pic. I'm gonna have to go with a round moon type cell.
Chopperman Did you rub something on your body or it just the pic? Your pantina looks different in the last pic.
I have a cool old fuel tank I will trade you for that fuel cell if you want. It is out of a 28 chevy truck. Just needs a new screw in cap..EVILT
EVILT - I would take you up on the tank if weren't for the drive. I'm going to try and pick something up at autorama. I also picked up my carbs from "Stromberg 97". Let me just say this, Duane knows his shit. These carbs are SIACKKK. Totaly rebuilt with all new internals, gaskets, and he even uses brand new stainless hardware throughout. I can't wait to fire the engine up. The engine bay is filling up very nicely, I was going to run some stacks, but I think scoops will look great. Thanks Again Duane.. You are the MAN.
Chopperman, My buddy goes up to to Yuba city all the time..He is a rodder too. His family is all up there. He could bring it up to you..EVILT
I give it to you for hookin into a project! Only thing...the rear end set up is parallel, which equals bind. What you've got is almost a mini version of a Chev truck/NASCAR set up BUT, if you check them you'll see the trailing arms converge at the front. Then it won't bind. Don't want to nit pick, but it's important.
