Thanks. I'll do that when I get this truck done. That's a beautiful engine.

I like your ( logic ) plan...That reminds me of Gray Baskerville saying:

I think your SB will run laps around it. The hemi needs a rebuild, but i figure I'll try it and if it runs it's all good. If it smokes, well that just adds character. If it doesn't run, it's rebuild time.

It's like a triumph with 8 cyl. LOL

That's the same boat I am in. I know this motor runs, since I fired it up once before I yanked it 2 1/2 yrs ago, although I have no idea how tight it is may smoke like a chimney. I figure run it till it blows and build something BIG. 572 big block 871 blower?

A blower would be SIACKK. That intake would be WAYYYYY over your roofline.

You gonna drive that biatch over this weekend or what ? Got a nice cold beer waiting for you :D

Hopefully will fire it and drive it around the block on Sunday. Still need lights and insurance before it hits the road. I may have a problem before I get very far though. The hydraulic throwout bearing seems to have a little too much preload without any spacers in it... not sure if its gonna slip.

i've got to ditto that. Matt is one straight-up dude, and his craftsmanship is first rate! super-solid workmanship. i can't say enough about how much i like the headers he made for my sedan....and a crazy good deal by anybody's standards!
i just wanted to add that, to my current favorite thread.....

It will run. It came out of a running car. All I did was get the inch of dirt and grease off it. Will it smoke? I don't know. I was told it wouldn't. Like you said, it adds character. You will have this thing to Paso this year. Did you get your reg sent in? Got a room booked yet? EVILT

    When ? Where ? How ? I'm a noob my brotha. Got a link

I'm not stressed about the engine, I'm sure it will run. I saw some pretty interesting things inside that raised my eyebrows. It's just a matter of how much I'm willing to throw at it.

I love this build-up. Much different than the Pirate builds but I love this all the same.

Closing out the day. Doesn't seem like I got anything done, but I did... I'm to the point in the build now where it really doesn't matter what I do, the car doesn't take on any dramatic changes so progress seems slow.

    Chopperman:

I am planning on running lake pipes only in my 31 Olds 5 window coupe. I look forward to "hearing" how the baffals work out. I do not want to run strait pipes but I will if I continue to get pulled over by the men in blue. Please let me know.

    Great car/great post

It may seem like it's going slow to you but I just got home from Daytona and it looks like you got a lot done. Love the headers.

Decided to take a break from the sub frame and work on the cooling system.

I ordered some adapters from hot heads, only problem is that unless you run their motor mounts, timing cover, and cam they don't fit. So I had to modify the stock timing cover, adapters and add soem pump spacers to get it all to work right.

I also picked up a 65-66 Mustang 3 row and it looks like it is going to fit my A grill and frame pretty good. I'm going to stick the shell way out in front and LOW. I will also have to run the lower hose in between the axle and the spring. No big deal though, there about 4" in there.

Radiator is sitting about where it will go

  28. Looking good Chopperman. What did you use for the rubber portion of your engine mounts?

The shell is just resting in the last pic.
