Well, I've been at it pretty good! Made some progress. I've got my "crew" workin' with me, an old vet, and a yungin', he's 22, and totally into the old stuff. I'm trying to "enlighten" him on the "traditional" aspect of hot rods. My other friend just finished a beautiful '29 pickup, it's flawless! He's got the knowin' of alot of things, and they're all fresh in is head due to the fact he just finished his. He will be overhauling the brakes, and steering, and I will be concentrating on the motor, and body work. I wish this thing was done yesterday!! It's been fun so far. This car has been in the family for years, wait 'til Pop sees it!! Will keep you all posted.

Made some progress! I've got parts on the way now! It's time to start prepping the frame for paint, and finishing the bodywork. I've got my header, Lion Speed Head, and Intake setup on the way. I will be putting in my order next week for the resy of the suspension, and brake parts need. Gotta clean up all the hardware, and running gear for paint. Should be able to make significant progress next week! Havin' some fun now!!

Well, I remembered my camera today! This thing was whacked pretty good in the**** at some point. I knew the rear would be my toughest issue, but I'm tackling it. Makin' progress a little at a time. I hung the manifold to see what it will look like, it'll look pretty good with the Speed Head, and header. The engine block will be yellow, with some black highlights ( starter, gen., valve cover ). I'm not sure if I want to go with the stainless acorn head nuts, or the brass. The wheels will be yellow also, with the body being "satin" black. The frame will also be black. Whaddya think??

Thanks Guys!!! A little more progress tonight. Got my wishbone split, and the bungs welded in. My header, and Lion Speed Head came, awsome stuff! I'm psyched!! It's gonna look great! Everyone at work was breakin' my balls about the whole "hot rod" thing, they wanted me to do it original, but I had a plan. Now that things are coming together, they're starting to see the picture I have in my head. Can't wait to get this thing done!!

Sanding, and more sanding! I'm gettin' close to primer. The left rear lower corner was whacked, someone mudded it up, and the lines were gone, so I had to sculpt new ones. Most of the hard stuff is done, now to sand the spot putty, then primer. I also made my own headlamp brackets. I didn't want to make the car fit the brackets, I wanted to make the brackets fit the car. Fun stuff......huh??

Thanks Moon Man!! I should have taken a pic of the Lion Speed Head. I'll get one tomorrow. I spoke with Charlie Yapp, and he said it was ok to paint the head with Cast Blast. It's a little oily, so I need to scrub it good with some thinner. I can't wait! I've been dreaming of a rod like this for a long time, since I was a kid! I've had the various Nova's and Impala's. I do love my truck though. But this is going to be something special for me, being it was given to me by my Pop, and it's the first "real" hot rod I've ever built. It will be even more special when I take Pop for a ride in it when it's done!!

Well, we were a little slow at work today, so I got the spot putty sanded down. Got a little more of the "edge" sanding done. I still need to hand sand around the window openings. I will be shooting fill primer and sanding that down as well. I removed all the screws from the firewall that were plugging up holes.........WTF???? Got started on sanding it. Now, what do I do with the holes??? I've got a couple ideas. I'm NOT removing the gas tank, and I'm NOT going to weld near it. The bodyshop has some pretty trick structural adhesive. I was thinking about cutting small patches and glue them on from inside the car, then fill from the outside with Tigerhair. I can still sand down the glue from the inside, paint over, and cover with carpet so It can't be seen. Check out the cloudy sediment bowl, it got all stirred up from the DA sander. I still have to remove it and drain the tank. I will be bending a new fuel line from copper and polishing it for a nice touch. Still lots more to go, but I'm gettin' there!!

Well done!! You have every reason to be proud of what you have done so far. And, when finished, you will be super proud.

Thanks Guys!! This car was originally a Utah car. My late Sister inlaw bought it years ago after it had migrated to California. When she passed, it was willed to my Pop, my Brother wanted nothing to do with it. It was shipped to the Delaware beach, where my parents have retired to. That was almost 20yrs ago. My father and I drove the piss outta this car and wore it out. He rescenty gave the car to me, so it was shipped up here to Pa.

Elizabeth was her name, so I will be finding a pinstriper to paint her name on it somewhere tastefull when I'm done, I was thinking maybe the valve cover. The guys at work are already calling my "buggy" Elizabeth. I'm sure she would approve!!

Forgot my camera.....again! I tackled the other hard part on this build, I got all the holes in the firewall filled and cut off the brackets for the radiator support rods. Now I can finish sanding it. I will be getting the stainless support rod kit. Things are lookin' up!!

Thanks Beatnick! I got some suspension parts painted, and I'm trying to prep the rest between doing other things. I think the firewall will come out well. Don't know why someone drilled so many holes in it. I thought you guys might like to see my ugly mug! I've only got a couple hours a night to work on this thing, but I think I'm making pretty good progress with the time I have. Thanks for the support guys!!

Primer, finally! But, I still need to sand it before painting. I've decided to go with a darker grey, I think black would be too much black. I want some contrast with the black top, and black chassis. I drove my truck to work and forgot that my good spray gun was in my car, so I had to use my suction feed gun. Well, I got some "dry spots" where the primer went on dry. I can sand it out though. I'm posting a picture of my truck to show the final color. I made my final parts order today, I'm almost ready for suspension and brake reassembly, then it's all down hill from there. Thanks for all the support guys!!
