Technical 31 ford , Dash- what the?

Whats going on here with this dash / Someones mod?
This is a 31 coupe I found for sale in a ad and pictures

 

Gas tank cut away underneath that board or just dressing it up with wood. There are holes it seems for the gauges...easy decision/fix for that...

 

^^ Agree. Your "new" gas tank is right behind the front bumper, I guess.

 

Dude wants $6500 for the car.... Lately Ive seen 2 completely restored '31 coupes for $10-13k

 

One thing about this one is its all in the open...it seems pretty solid but has rot in the quarter area. Does it have an ownership, original seats, any more rot? The 10k ones might be full of cheese and patches so it bears caution regardless of direction..

 

Are you restoring it? The car looks pretty solid, and unmolested, if the dash is a problem, what do you think about the seats. By the time you put a forty ford dash in there all the wood will be just a memory.
