I've worked on a 30 and a 26 Ford, but not a 31, so I need help.....is the area where the taillight is located supposed to be recessed as shown in the picture? When I got it, it was completely filled with bondo. It looks as though it is recessed for the taillight bracket. Or should it be same level as the fender?

It is a smooth area, not recessed. What you see is where pressure applied the the taillite deformed the fender.

YEP, should be level with the fender, ol henry didn't go to frenching in brackets!
don't know why it would be like that tho! maybe it's been hit real hard in the back and pushed the bracket in?

Thanks for the info. It must have been hit REAL hard, because it is almost a perfect imprint of the bracket. I swear, it looks like it was stamped in.
