Diddn't think of that. Yeah, the torque tube is integral to the rear suspension. This "conversion" gets a little more spooky the more I think of it.
I was just looking at the 3 photos you posted and have read the rest of what you have posted. I understand now that you weren't fully aware of what you got into. I also see that your frame is not stock. I'm not sure where your going with the car over all but with a little help and some parts you can fix this thing. As far as I know there is not open drive kit for the Model A gearbox. You might want to confirm that. Were it me I would find a Model A rear end complete. There out there and cheep. Then to keep the spring mount and ride height I'd buy some weld on spring hangers for the spring behind the axle and put them on the A rear axle housings. Change the A brakes to Hyd. and get on with driving the car. If you were closer I'd lend you a hand just to make up for some Hose Head giving you the Bone. Hope the rest of the car is in better shape. Mostly my advise would be to keep it simple and don't try to change more than is needed. The Wizzard
You need to trash that mess before it comes through the floor. Original drive shafts and torque tube had a steady bearing inside the tube. With out it you will have a lot of slop.
