I figured it was about time to start a build thread for my next project... Ended up getting this project from a good friend over the summer. I had plans to finish my other cars first, but he passed away suddenly and I decided to focus on this project. I thought about changing the body to something else, but I thought I might as well build something different. Here's how I got the car: Here's where I'm at today: I've got a pretty good idea of where I want to go with it... Un-channel it an inch or so, a 4" chop, 4" drop axle and possibly Z the frame in the rear. Not sure on a grill yet... Might try to do something with the stock grill.
Here is mine long ago 1975 Street Rod Nats. in Memphis. Car was stolen in my enclosed trailer in Ann Arbor Michigan in 2006. Original Ford Tube axle no drop Bottom picture is when I pulled it out of my storage barn after over 25 years being put away BTW that's a 28-29 shell you have so it would be hard to make a hood fit if you're planning one. Movin/on
Thanks guys- Movin/on, that's a pretty sweet slant window! I keep going back to a deuce grille, just now sure I want to make the investment yet.
The car came with a stock 305, that had just been gone through (new pump, seals, gaskets, timing chain, etc), hooked to a TH350. After driving my Dads hot rod sedan with basically the same setup, I decided it was just a little too.... Boring. I was going to use these on another build, but I think it will be at home on the Murray. A preview... Had to clean the clay off from its days on a dirt track...
Guess it’s been a little while since I updated this thread... Just brought the Fordor out of hibernation. Chop is a definite, thinking front and rear should be lowered some more. As for powerplant, I’m still up in the air. Stock 305 with a TH350 in it now, almost ready to run. But... Just so meh. Have a running 364 Nailhead sitting around that I’ve been thinking about. Also a hot Chevy 250 6 that needs to be finished, as well as an 8BA flatty block fresh from machine shop..... Hmmmmmm...
