Hi, everyone! My name is Zach and I've never done one of these build things before for my past projects, but I figured I'd give it a try for this one. (Btw, if you would like to see the other cars let me know and I'll post them in here.) I've always been into cars that you wouldn't normally see driving around so I guess that's what drew me into Model As. Long story short, I have been looking for either a Tudor or a coupe for many months, but didn't find one that I didn't have to do major surgery to hold the body together...until I found one hidden away in Wisconsin! As the tale goes, the previous owner purchased the car in 1932 and kept the car in a garage out of the elements, driving it only when it was a nice day, and has since done a bit of work to keep the car together in factory colors. While it's more than possible that story is not completely true, after seeing the car in person I almost believe it! My plans, however, are not something that the previous owner would approve of TL;DR here's the car The night it was dropped off it was a little dirty so I hosed it off and tucked her away in the garage. The next day after kinda washing it we started tearing it down! Aren't California winters great? It's currently just a body getting ready for some spinning disks, but in all the excitement I always forget to take pictures so those will have to wait. I have more fun stuff coming soon!
Great start! If you're losing the fenders, let me know!!! (Hope I'm first in line....) (BTW....The grille surround is from a '30...)
Nice looking Tudor, what are your plans for the build?? Aprons, front guards and radiator shell all appear to be from a 1930 model A.
That is a CLEAN car! Welcome to the HAMB! That's a car you can build up one thing at a time. You could just do wheels and tires and have a mean look already! What's the plan?
so, what year is listed on ***le? looks like a solid start, for whatever style that you will be building. post a pic of your '54 Chevy PU. should change your avatar, no matter how nice that car is.
Looks like you're off to a good start. Like stated above that could be a driven work in progress. That's how I'm starting mine.
The Bill of Sale said 1931 so that's what the DMV went with when they made my ***le. Since I didn't think there was any major differences between the 28-31s I didn't even bother questioning it. @Brett sorry, buddy. Everything has already been picked up by a couple guys. As far as the plans go, I'm going with Chevy sb for the motor since buying parts at any auto store sounds like a good deal...Especially after having to deal with cl***ic Japanese car parts that you have to pay more shipping than the cost of the parts. So there's probably where I'm going with the chop. 4.5" front and back. I don't really know how much I'm gonna channel at this point, but it's not going to be too ridiculous as the plan is to drive her as a daily eventually. Im also making my own frame with 2x4 box! This is the first time I'm completely making a frame so I'm getting some help with that cuz you know...I wanna be driving straight lol The frame should be done pretty soon so I can lay the body on there and finalize the chop and channel.
