So next on the list is to move grill shell back 2", black plug wires, and change taillights. I'll keep this thread going as I update the car. Thanks for all the suggestions so far.
The grill I know a couple H A M B guys are going to use that grill.I think they may catch on.Everybody wants to be different the same. Bill aka Tnomoldw Man, but that cant be your car. It must be your mamas car. Im sorta embarrassed to be this close to ya.
I found a picture by Tom Donaldson , a car at the GNRS, it has the MAGIC grill, Bill aka Tnomoldw ''I wanna go where the lights are low where I can go'n spend my dough an dance with the dolly with the wooden leg''
Yes the car needs a hood, I found more pictures of the Magic grill. It's a car in the Grand National Roadster Show, Bill aka Tnomoldw Well, you call that a paint job but its pretty ugly. Ill betcha you gotta sneak up on the pumps just to get a little air in your tires
These tailights would look good mounted just below the belt line... Oh and they're for sale in the "parts for sale" section under 1937 Olds tail lights....
I was doing a little brainstorming today. I think i might try to find some pinner whites for the slot mags. The 60's weren't that bad, right?

Like this car, awesome save from a destroyed r*t rod (shudder imagining 10" booger welded chop) I like the skinny whites, but I would prefer black walls. A set of moon discs are cheap, and would give a Bonneville vibe. I think that a 30, 31 grill would be the best look on this car, definitely parallel to the cowl like it is now, top lining up with the cowl (not like the Milner coupe). A simple hood top is cheap and simple to make, and would hide the backset of the engine. I definitely would leave the hood sides off. I would not move the grill back much, the front end would look too forward (like a t bucket) and the hood would look stock 4 banger length. The extra length looks good on a sedan. Anyways, that is my opinion, regardless of what you do, have a blast. Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Update: Got the grill shell in its final spot. I ended up moving it back about 2". The bottom is tight with the crossmember. I had a minor setback with a drillbit and the radiator, but I found a local shop who fixed it right up. Dam'n, I need to clean my garage!
What you've done so far has worked wonders. Here's a shot of mine to show you what original style rear lights would look like.
Also did some interior work. New steering wheel and painted "dash". I never took a pic but everything was gold before.
I would probably paint the suspension bars and axles black. I do think that a gun metal or charcoal grey color would look good. If the bucks were there, nickel plating would look awesome, but painting them too light of a color will not look that good ( just my two bits) Posted from the TJJ App for iPhone & iPad
Clean and simple. I like it, but most important is if you like it! Can't ever please everyone who sees it, some guys have a very narrow sense of "looks good"
You could go all in and paint frame, arms, links and hairpins red. That would look killer for a black body. You could even do a flat black (driveway paintjob) with a shine red pine stripe. Old School, and makes a nice time-specific, low bucks build style. The ideer early posted with the painted rims so they look something like those bad ass salt flat style rims. That would be cheap and cool. Just my .02$ Not that you need help. Just the fact you saved from becoming a RR, shows you have tast and dreams! Nice behind!
