Would a 318/360 motor bolt to a 2 speed powerflite? Will I need an adapter for the flexplate? It had a 270 polyshere on it. I wanna keep the pushbutton if possible. Oh yeah what about motor mounts?
You'll need an adaptor. A reversed 392 adaptor would seem to be what you need. Contact 73RR here, he's Q.E.C. that makes Hemi to 727 tranny adaptors. OR there is a company that makes a gadget to use the push buttons with the newer 904/727. You would be much better off running the modern tranny. It been talked about at www.forwardlook.net
i did a early 66 poly 318 to a 59 3 speed......waaaaaaaay too much work to be worth it....i shoulda put a 440 and a 727 in that car and been done with it... so much for using what i had laying around. from what i remember , crank spacer, had to do some serious work on the plate between the block and bell.... had starter to flywheel issues... had clutch issues.... not worth it.
A PF has 8 studs on the converter that go trough the crank flange & uses nuts on the back side, where your crank has 6 holes threaded for bolts. I believe you'll have to put a crank from a 62 or earlier 318 Poly to use the PF.
As mentioned, alot of work to make that combo fly, and I'm not too sure how long the p-flite would last.... not a real good use of money. If you really need to use a 'button 'flite then look at the 63-64 trans. Certainly not a bolt-in but alot closer than where you are now. The later trans does require a rear axle with e-brake. Keep us posted.
Thanks for the info. Well if I'm gonna go through the trouble of a complete drive train swap I might as well make it a 5 speed. Any suggestions? I was thinking a 5 speed from a late model dodge pickup.
