yes you can straighten the pedals out with a pie cut, just make sure your welds are flawless, maybe use a fishplate too certainly don't want a pedal to come apart right when you are needing it most car looks fantastic Kathy
You may want to make some stops to prevent the rods from coming out of the bores in the m/c. If you would like I can send you a pic of the mods I did to mine. I also pie cut mine to get them further away from the seating position. Dennis D
Thanks everyone! Ken, my grin will be as big as Texas if I make it. I only have to figure out a way to pay for two college tuitions, books, and a rebuild a Hemi? Paul, I hadn't thought about the fish plate but that's a good idea. Dennis D, I would love to see what you did. I was going to get out some paper and start playing.
Hated to miss it Richard, but not many days off this month and you know Tuffy always wins! I went ahead and Shellac'd the wood kit. I know, I know, but it will be preserved, covered up and I like it. You know those people on TV never make faces like this or do they edit it out? Scary!! Not sure how many times I was hit on the head while trying to get everything marked. Back out and back in. Door headers, pillars and top bow in. I have a problem here on the rear top bow. With the passenger side partially bolted in, the drivers side bolt hole is off about a 1/2". The pencil mark on the wood is where the bolt hole is that should be lining up with the inside hole on the bracket. There is no way that body has a 1/2 give up there. Does anyone have a measurement of the inside bracket bolt hole from the passenger to the drivers side? Had two warm days so I got the rear wheels painted. I will let them cure a few days before I mount the tires. Started finishing up the rear floor. Time to make a rear crossmember cover. My sheet metal brake didn't like the 16 gauge. I ended up having to use cheater pipes and a lot of straining. I got it tacked together.
love the pool table/workbench "days off this month" ?? glad to hear you have a job like the rest of us slobs, I was beginning to think all you do is play!
as my pen pal from up north would write: ossuummm! Thanks for taking the time to share the rebuild with us, I really enjoy reading this thread. -W
Hey Kathy, is the bracket in the same place on the drivers side? One of mine was off by about 3/8" on one side, just thinking out loud here but I realized my body wasn't as square as I thought it was, took a little work but it all came out ok. I need to make that rear spring mount cover for mine this weekend, Are you going to make it removeable or weld it in place? And that funny face was priceless
Thanks for the encouragement, you guys make me smile! Levi, PM me your phone number. Do you work in TC or Dikenson? Paul, I have to go to work to rest, it's the only place I set down. I'm not getting much done working 14 (12's) and I have been trying to get sick. I can't get sick that ot is designated for Hemi parts! That poor pool table. Gary, I will make it removable. It turned out way bigger than I thought - too bad it can't double for a cooler or something. Richard D would make a beer holder in there. I may cut it down and use some flat bar on the edges?
I don't know how I've missed this for so long, but I just read both threads from start to finish. RULER!! You're an inspiration, Lady. I'll be watching regularly for updates.......
Wow... I thought I had a cool survivor car. Come to find out there's a bunch of them showing up. Anyway...good job you're doing there. You're flying on that thang. Mine is channeled, but just the frame width. That car is radical. I tip my hat to you for keeping the original flavor of the car. I hope to see it in person one day. I have some friends in the Austin and Dallas areas. So maybe I'll get down there some time in the near future. I've had mine for 31 years. Longer than I've had my wife (26 years). Difference is I've never ridden the coupe yet.... (did I say that out loud??? ) I plan to get back on mine come spring. Here's a little story done on my 3 window last year. Pretty much tells the story so far. If you're interested, grab a tasty beverage and check it out. http://www.memphisrodders.com/files/519c6063c0ba911800188e78abcac66e-67.html The roadster shown in the R&C article is still going too. I met the owner of it a few weeks ago. We're going to get together again this weekend or so. Here's another vintage shot of mine that I colorized. Shown here in the early 60s with the owner at the time. The sign reads: Jack Friend 32 Coupe Chopped 5 1/2 inches Channeled 7 3/4 inches Race Engine As much as I'd like to go back to the vintage look, I just can't bring myself to paint it that color! Keep it up lady-girl, it's looking great!
