Relax and enjoy the roundup. You can finish him now without the deadline and pressure and will have the bugs worked out for the next show.
I have been watching this build since the start and I don't believe the word failure can be associated with this fine deuce. You have come a long way and should be very proud of you accomplishments and what the other guy said go have a beer or 3. 27
Kathy I'm so proud of you ....you made us all who take years to get the point your at.. look like wussys...enjoy the roundup and relax and when you get back it will be running in no time.....Bill
Hey Kat,sorry to read you didn't make it there with Tuffy,But you're still a woman after my own heart. All the best,T.
Kathy... I can count on the fingers of one hand the number of people who have ever efforted as hard as you to bring about a desired end. And none of them would have continued with the same, or even greater, pace and enthusiasm had they encountered the physical obstacles you have not only met, but overcome with renewed vigor and unbelievable determination. Even now, in the face of the inevitable last-minute visit from Murphy, you are not discouraged...just delayed. I am so proud of you. Eric PS: We still on for a turkey leg next year?
Kathy It's just Tuffy's way of saying you need to take a break! You've done an awesome job on the car , but sometimes you just need to step back and relax a little! I know it's tough to be so close, but it will all come together!! Enjoy the show!! You deserve it!!!! Bob
Thanks so much for the words of encouragement, they mean a lot. Let me catch up on the last few days. All the glitches showed up at once. I started bleedind the clutch slave first and finally determined we had a bad master cylinder, with a blown seal = ok ordered another one and Tanya drove in to Houston to pick up. Turned out to be the wrong one but the piston was almost the same so I tried it and it worked. Then onto the slave cylinder. Only getting about a 1/2" of travel - another slave cured that problem. The useless sign I put up! Ha! Ten people walked right past it. My dog Cooper in the Coupe! Never realized they matcheD! Had fitment problems with the new raditor and needed to move in inlet about and inch, so Tanya took it to B & J Radiator in Pasadana. The radiator shop that has been there for years and I have done work with them before. They were super busy and really didn't have time but when Tanya explained what was going on James took care of it - I think they stayed late to finish it for me. They also found a leak in my brand new radiator. What more could you ask for? Repeated clutch adjustments....Called in Louie (LouieS) to help with some fab stuff. He knocked out the gas pedal/fulcrum assembly in minutes and said what else? I need the shifter moved four inches to the right - done. He just takes off and then says "Is this what you want?" = YES! Louie actually stayed with me until 2am. When your under the car and ask for the air operated rasp bit - don't roll over on it or you will loose some hair! I put MoMo to work! OK the video you have been waiting for. I still don't know how it got stopped before hitting the pool table. I grabbed for the key and put both feet forward! It was scary stuff! Finally we all agreed that I had a bad pressure plate. I was so worn out by this time I could hardly stand. Louie offered his truck and trailer to take him the Roundup but I just couldn't bring myself to trailer him, so at 1230 we started pulling the engine and at 2am we were done. The plan was to drive to a speed shop Saturday morning, install the pressure plate and take off. Well I woke up at 630, still exhausted and decided is was just too much. Took off to Roundup at 10 am. It was a great drive, relaxing and a good time to reflect on everything. I decided that all the effort was worth even the 30 foot drive and already there are some things that I will change on the car before putting it back together. Roundup was unreal, I bet it grew by 50%. I made it to the end of the meet and greet. I was doing good till Franki (MissPrint) hugged me and told me how proud of me she was. It brought tears to my eyes! The best part of the HAMB is the friends I have made. I also got the meet the famous Chaddilac - just as I had my first beer - I think the beer is how he reconized me clean and normal looking. Also got to the meet Earl Schieb today while viewing Jim's (Kustom7777) "Telstar" build - wow what a custom build that is. It was very evident that has studied and is is patient to get what he likes! I know Denise got some pictures. And Gary "Grits" and his very supportive wife Brenda - What a sweetheart! The coveted gold star envelope that was waiting for Tuffy to be a "featured car" on the hill! I think it was a chance in a lifetime that was missed. I doubt you get asked twice! Oh well at least they thought he was worthy! Time to go back to my real job now! I'm going to rest a little bit!
sorry about your misfortune, things will get taken care of,there will be other shows. you gave it hell and you rock for trying.keep us posted please!
That motor sure sounds nice. Good save in reverse, it did not look like it was going to stop. I still wonder about the pressure plate. Let us know what you find.
oh man that was a 'soiled my drawers' moment for sure. I had one of those when I was building the one in my avatar. Before it was running we had to make a few trailer trips back and forth to upholstery shop and such. Was unloading it off the trailor and dad was on the winch and I was behind it putting pressure on it to keep it from rolling too fast. (SAFETY FAIL) Winch let go and I almost didn't get it stopped before it smashed ME against the back of the garage.
I just caught up on the build. You dont want to here it but, your better off. no need to get hurt or damage your car or anyone elses because of a malfunction. get it fixed right and test drive it so you can enjoy it! You've got alot to be proud of anyway. Good Job!! Now go get some friggen rest.........
There was no failure there at all, that is the nicest car i have ever been under and had the oppurtunity to work on. Parts fail, that's hot roddin. Kathy is a true hot rodder and inspiration to to me. I have a car i have had for two years longer than she has that is not near as far along as Tuffy. Way to go girl that car is awesome great great build.
Thanks! It was good to visit with you this morning! Nothing big. Changing some brake and wire plumbing that were causing some unforseen problems. And I need to 45 the bottom radiator mounts that showed with the grill on. I knew it! It was good to meet you! I guess you all made it home with no problems! Thanks for your help Louie, you really came through for me! (even put on some Jerry Lee Lewis to keep me going)
Sorry you were not able to bring Tuffy to the show, I know how hard you tried, I've been in your shoes many times. I was great to finally meet you and Tanya as well, hope you guys made it home safe and sound. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Doc that means alot to me! Hey were your ears burning? Me and Kelli were wishing you were there. See that pic with Grits, I was saying "your the winner"! I now know why it took 100 pages to build - it's perfect!
"Christine" is the extreme but sometimes I swear these cars have souls. Not hitting the pool table was just Tuffy's way of saying you're the right one to be behind the wheel. Wanted to stretch the legs and run just not quite there yet. What a cool coupe and you and Tuffy got tons of soul.
Kathy maybe the Austin meatheads will plan another food run and there are several of us in the area that head out caravan style for a all day cruise to Austin and some good food. Now thats a good way to get a few miles on Tuffy and relax.
