Well, here's one more CONGRATULATIONS to "my favorite Hot Rod Girl Builder"......I'm so happy for you!!! Thanks for sharing all your progress, trials and tribulations.....
kisam - Congrats! ... Great to see "Tuffy" moving under his own power! Watching the "Maiden Voyage" video: <object width="640" height="510"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/jlQ4WxcoP7Q?version=3&hl=en_US"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/jlQ4WxcoP7Q?version=3&hl=en_US" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="640" height="510" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true"></embed></object> ... really put a smile on my face ... so I'm quite sure Mr. Bettin and Casey are smilin' too!
Been following you on this build, great job except for the fan thing. I'm sure you are very proud of what you have accomplished, I know a lot of us are proud of you. Congrats!
Kathy, I'm sure that somewhere in this 50 page thread you have answered this question but I simply don't have the energy to go fishing for the answer. Do you know why Tuffy has a round hole in the decklid? Seems a bit odd. It took my breath away seeing you go for your maiden cruise. Too cool.
I'm not for sure, but I think it was used to fill a gas tank when Ron ran Tuffy in the BB/Altered Class. All in inner structual support is missing, I assume to lighten it.
Congrats on the first ride! Nothing like it. Just the beginning of many more. It'll really feel like an 'old friend' after a few good outings around the county, to town and back a few times, then the next town over, etc. You'll be talkin' to him in no time....'come on now, don't start that' ... 'kinda hot today, eh' ... 'looks like we got us some rain comin' '.... Ah, good times!
Tuffy and I played tonight. I think I have the steering pretty close. The shifter and clutch are better - maybe it's just a learning curve for me. I took my 84 year old Mother for a ride. I only got on it once - which took us to 80 MPH pretty quick, before she said "Kathy Sue" - which translates to = "That's enough"! When we got home Mom said Tuffy makes my heart pound! Me too Mom! As close as I can get
That car is beautiful. You nailed it right on. You should be proud, and Tuffy lives, that is just plain bitchin. Lippy
Jealous for sure.......You have had your car way less than I have and you are moving on. I am still waiting on my maiden voyage. Congrats, Kathy Sue.
Skotz, your one of my favorite people in the world. I wish we lived closer so I could learn from you! You must be my brother from another Mother! After we got back and sat on her back porch for a while she said "Wonder what he can do when you get out of the neighborhood?" My Mom's cool! Back to Tuffy - he's cutting out under a load. I suspect he's thirsty so I will be messing with the carb. "Pull over I need to rejet the carb" Ever heard that in a movie?
What a fantastic story, and a fantastic lady! Kathy, you havr "ruined" that boy of yours! CONGRATULAIONS!
I can't believe the attention to detail between the two pictures. Two questions - have you diagnosed the clutch/shifter problem and when are you getting some chrome valve covers? Any body have a pair you could "borrow" ? John
John, Clutch is getting better as it breaks in, 1st is still a booger - I need to adjust the linkage again, but honestly, all I want to do now is play! If I don't find some cheap, I will have the valve covers chromed this winter and the grill. QUOTE=Woogeroo;6665934]Outstanding... nice shot comparison. p.s. my mama still full names me too...[/QUOTE] Woog, do we ever outgrow that? Now I'm going to watch Deuce of Spades for the umptenth time and wait for it cool down! I'll try to get a video tonight!
So fantastic!!! Love that you took your mom a ride. Josephine meets my mom in person tomorrow! Posting from the road.. TJJ on iPhone
Kathy, I'm so happy for you!!! This car has always been one of my favorites, radical but perfect. You sure did "Tuffy" justice. Congratulations!!!!
I worked on some little things yesterday. Rejetted the carb but it's still cutting out. I'm going to pull the carb off and clean it up today just to make sure. I took Tuffy out last night for a beer and some Jimmy Buffet style music at a little resturaunt around the corner. Ended up running into some old car friends and then it happened -"Is that your ratrod?" I didn't think it would happen so fast! So I had to "Spread the Gospel of traditional hotroddingl" Here's a short video from last night. Man he's fun to drive!
Loved the video Kathy, nothing like a hot chick inna hot rod, way cool. PS, What's that bangin' sound in the back ground, sounds like your door wasn't shut.
