I searched to see what was the best seat but did not really find the answer I was looking for, anyways what seems to be the best seat people have been using? I currently have a dodge caravan seat and was wondering if there is something better? I have a 34 and it is chopped 4", is the ford windstar seat any better or any custom made seats by Teas or Procar any better? I just want to make sure I get the best seat before I spend money on reupolstering anything. Thanks

I have a 36 p/u, with a caravan seat for many years now, I like it.

  3. We made the seat in my '32 pickup plywood with and density foam and used an electric carving knife to shape the foam.

Glued the upholstery material (fruit salad)to the foam and stapled the overlap to the plywood. HRP

I scratch made the seats in my last 2 deuce pus. The secret to me fitting in the truck is a thin backrest. I used a 1 inch piece of firm foam with a 2 inch roll at the top for the back and a 3 inch piece of firm foam with a 4 inch roll at the front on the bottom all fastened to 5/8 plywood, and covered with leather. I use the original fuel tank cleaned with the top removed for the seat base.

mine is sitting on a gutted out 32-4 1ton fuel tank with a backward lean cut into it. then its pretty much like Cadillacoffins. just a couple piece of plywood with a few different layers of stiff and soft foam..Works really well and is comfortable, the bottom custion pops out like a boat seat and thats where my fuse panel, battery and some storage all hides.

  6. Here's what I did, I thought the Caravan seat seemed a little to narrow, and I wanted to have better access to the area behind the seat.

So I got a seat from a Ford Ranger (80's) and took it a apart and then sectioned the back of the seat by 4 inches, then with the bottom part I sectioned it 4 inches in the rear and 6 inches in the front so the seat followed the norrowing of the cab.

It also tilts forward for easy access to the storage area behind the seat, and this is important when the truck is so small to start with.

Sorry for the shitty picture, its all I have on my PC at work, if you want to see some better pictures, let me know, I can take some when I get home tonight.

My '34 truck had a middle seat from a Toyota van/suv. Width was spot on and it could fold forward or come out easily using the stock Toyota mounts.
