Does anyone have a 32-34 exploded king pin installation drawing. I have a new kit, and I guess I know where the bearing goes, but then there are shims, and felt parts. A drawing would help. Thanks

I have a pair of '32 spindles, like to use them on my '27 roadster.
Now, are you talking about the 'retro-type' bearing kit, the 'Torrington circular needles'?

Mike, Do you happen to know where I could buy the "Torrington" bearings for the '32 spindles ?
Also, would I be correct in guessing the same Torrington bearings and other parts for '33 and "34 Ford spindles would be the same as the '32 parts ?
    Thanks for your help.

I am speaking of the original type of king pin. I purchased a new set of the retro king pins that use Torrington Bearings, but didn't use them. Now I'm struggling to install the original type.

Off the top of my head, from memory:

    Starting from the top:
    Thrust bearing.
    Top bush area of spindle.
    Shims (I think).
    Axle.
felt seal and washer (I think)
    Bottom bush area of spindle.

The two items in brackets might be the other way round, but basically the shims should not be in a position of supporting the weight. ***embling it as I said, without the seal or shims may tell you which gap will take the seal and where the shims will go.

    It's something like that, anyway.

On Model A thru '36 the shims (if needed) go between the bearing and top of axle, so do support weight.

Originally not used; the shims are used to compensate for wear on the top spindle boss and make to sure the bearing is carrying the weight of the car along with allowing room for the cup and felt seal on the bottom side of the axle.

The fitting needs to be done with the vehicle weight sitting on the spindles.

Kinda different from the shims purpose in the '37 up stuff.

I can't imagine how to use the needle bearings with 32 spindles.
The ball bearing goes on top of the spindle. The spindle tops are often worn. If worn, the axle will move down and drag on the lower spindle boss. Use feeler gauges to insure you have clearance at the bottom. You can also over shim and bind the axle to the bottom of the top spindle boss.
Replace the bushings and have them fitted to the king pins. ***emble and check clearances.
If going to hyd brakes, you can cut off most of the socket. Leave the ledge to support the ball bearing.
