Glad to see that you both got out without any serious injuries. The car looks pretty beat but it sounds like once it is blown apart it will not be that hard of a fix.

Being a 5-window fan I was sad to see this, but I agree that it fixable ... actually do any of us really just fix anything ??? We upgrade !!! :p

Anyhow glad everyone is OK. I have been in the transportation industry for over 20 years and just when I thought I seen every stupid thing a person could do on the road, someone proves me wrong !!!

Thanx again for all the support guys...we are in process of picking up our truck and trailer...then we got to load up the 32 and the mullins here in junction city...to all, we believe the body is fixable but once all the insurance is done then it will have its turn back in the shop and we will c how extensive the damage really is but we agree that it can and will see the road again...

  13. Glad your both ok.... Just makes me think what some people "don't think while driving and do stupid stuff " Had my 35 out the other night and had a old lady pull right out in front of me on 6th Ave here from alley .... didn't even look left what so ever... Pulled up to her at the next light... She did apologize about pulling out in front off me.. I was nice to her and just said please be more careful next time...For your safety and anyone else...

  14. So sorry! Glad everyone was ok. She could not have turned in front of a f@#$% Prius?

well i did loose my cool later after we got the 5 window on the trailer at 4:30 and headed down the hwy about 15 miles and my tub started to cut out. i look up ahead in the sky and there are black clouds. im thinking man what else could happen. well it seams that when i went bajaing in the medium that stired up junk in the fuel tank and it got past the fuel filter. that tub cut out on me three times. i keep my foot in it and it cleared out. i drove from topeka ks past kansas city in rain. 32csr you told me about driving a tub . never though it would be like this. having the tub payed off in colorado in the mountains though. anyone looking to trade a 62-64 nova wagon for a 28 tub????? lol.

Well...the trip home still has not been an easy one...a few hours ago drews tub stopped working...we found that the fuel pump broke...at least we have a rolling parts store with us. So we proceeded to replace drews fuel pump with the fuel pump from the wrecked 5 window on the side of the highway in th e middle of st louis...now the uhaul trailer carrying the wrecked 5 window blew a tire...so we are stuck at a rest stop outside of mt vernon I'LL waiting for a servie truck to bring us a replacement. This is by far the worst return trip ever! WE JUST WANT TO GET HOME!!

This sounds like the trip from hell. :( There is nothing worse than being broken down along side the road a lot of miles from home, in the heat of Summer. At least all the humans came through this one unharmed, and that is a good thing. But the damage to the car still hurts.

Someday you will all laugh about this..............MAYBE ! Try to keep positive and think about those good times.
;)PS We drove through Mt Vernon last Sunday and lived. Good luck getting home and getting the rods all back together. There's another year and another car event ahead.

One of the most horrific, chain accident crashes I've ever seen was started by a little ol' lady slowly turning into oncoming traffic. Sucks man.

Hope you guys took out U Hauls insurance that covers anything that happens to the trailer. They may try to tell you the tire was driven on when it was flat.

I've rented a ton of them over the years and they have all been pretty good conditionwise. Tires just blow sometimes for unknown reasons, and it might not be their lack of maintenance. I just had the sidewall ripped out of one of the tires on my daily driver and I never saw anything on the road before I hit whatever it was.

It just keeps getting crazier on the road all the time. I was at a light waiting for it to change a few months ago when I was pushed through the intersection by a driver on a cell phone not paying attention.

Yesterday I was in the repaired car when another SUV pulls up on my bumper and yep, the driver had a cell phone hugging his face. I held up my cell phne and dropped it on the passenger seat to send a message. The driver was screaming at me for the next block and a half till I turned off.

Guess idiots now rule the road and we can count on being victims.

Sure glad the injuries weren't any worse and that the rod comes back better than right. Original steel fenders? OUCH!

  27. Wow, what a trip from hell. Good thing hot rodders have perseverance to get through these things.
