Finally got back on the engine this afternoon. The flywheel and clutch are on, as well as pan, timing cover, water pumps and starter. Hope to get the studs in the other head and torque both heads tomorrow. Then finish up fuel system details, idler pulley and generator. Hope to have in on the run stand in about 2 weeks.

A little side project. I've had this Wilton 4" bullet vise for a while. I sent some parts away for chrome with one of the batches for the 5W. I ground the castings smooth and had them powder coated metallic grey, similar to 50's Craftsman grey. This is for the bench in the background of the engine pics. I'll make a follow post about that whole project too. Anyway, here's my "almost too nice to use" vise...

I've (3) vises, one on my trailer & two on separate benches, all well hammered (not the hammer tone paint) I use them like an anvil. Your unique example was certainly worthy of the Neil touch !!! A nice save!

I think it's time for a build that rivals your mower!

Neal, that Wilton is incredible. I have a 3.5" bullet vise that I got for $5 at a swap meet that might need this treatment!

When I need to add, I use a piece of thick welding rod and weld that to the edge. Run a fusing bead on the backside too where I will be grinding down to nothing. What’s his method?

    so digging that vise

would like to see move or it n the build

besides that , the engine is coming out nicely

but have a question , how does gasoline react to copper or brake fluid ? isnt it corrosive , that it would eat the material after a while ?

My friend and I have been talking about this build. We truly believe this car is going to been known like many other famous '32 builds are; by the owner.

The Neal Jennings 5 window is going to be held up with all of the great '32's. This build is just gonzo nuts.

Can't wait to see it done and driving. You should be proud of what you've accomplished here.
