I am trying to sort out the many problems with a car I purchased and am having trouble with the back glass when rolling down.. The glass will start off level but then begin to angle and then bind in the channel. I replaced the sash channel and also the lower metal glass channel and still have the same problem. I think now that the glass is not wide enough. Does anyone have the width and height of the glass? Also, since the lower glass channel was not correct to begin with, I wonder if the regulator might be wrong. Would someone have the length of the regulator lift arm please. Thanks
A problem with the back window mechanism is that you only have one arm raising and lowering the glass unlike the door mechanisms which have two. I have an original glass in the shed so I'll go and measure it and the glass channel and get back to you.
OK measured my back window and the glass is 26 1/2" wide by 10 1/2" high and the channel is 21 1/2" long. Not sure now if it is original as this came out of a hot rod built in 1973 by a "glass" man and he may have cut a new glass for the car. If he did you could be sure that it fitted perfectly as that is the way he is. Hope this helps.
buddy had that problem, he eventually used a Buick rear window regulator, it had 2 roller wheels in the channel not just one... cured it.
