I know a lot of you have done this and I have always wanted to and recently I acquired a complete 32 axle, perch pins, and spindles to go under my ‘29 roadster. My stock A kingpins were perfect in the 32 spindles, no movement, no nothing. Can I run the stock Model A brake actuators or do I need the 32-34 style?
Get yourself a set of 32/34 front brakes to run with the 32 axle & spindles. They are a bigger & better brake than the model A's and it's a bolt on!
Use the A actuators if your keeping the mechanical brakes. You will also need a spacer for the wishbone as the 32 axle is 1/4 inch thinner. If you go with 32 brakes you still use the A actuators.
Thanks. I did put a 1/4 spacer on the bottom. The reason I am asking is the area on the 32 perch pins where the actuator bolts on is almost twice as thick as the A perch pins.
The brake actuator of the Model A allows the brake rods to run parallel to the frame and thus fit better, the 32-34 run under the frame to the middle. I just built the same. Greetings Harald
