Not worth much... I mean, make up your mind, do you want a cabriolet, or a Victoria?? Nobody likes those things, especially 32's. I'd be willing to take it off your hands because you seem like a nice guy.....
If you were REALLY serious about this car you would know EXACTLY what it is worth and what the cost of building it would be. This is not a $500- Model T body that can be slapped together with a bunch of junk pieces. Even if you do somehow come to buy it you will find out just how valuable and expensive the build cost would be and most likely sell it. I'm saying this in a positive manner that you should REALLY consider if you want to build it before moving forward. If and when the day EVER comes that I see a '32 B-400 "rat rod" I will find a new hobby. This has to be my MOST favorite car of all time and I am totally jealous that you have the opportunity to perhaps own one.
Why do people always post this!!! No one here is a professional appraiser, just a lot of parts buyers. the body is worth only what people are willing to pay when posted for sale Put it on ebay. or look for comparable bodies on ebay if you can find one. call a vintage car appraisals service if you stand to make 20K or more on something stowed away for 10 years spend some time/money learning the value, everyone here will give you old "it worth X amount I'll give 5K or it.
jeez , ya guys bash the guy without even reading his whole question. The bay auction is probably going to bring the most. It is going to depend on how complete and condition as always and absolute junk would still probably bring $20,000- $25,000 for a body as you describe it I would think much more than that maybe $40,000 + and as scarce as they are you can pretty much name your price
I'm not bashing, buteveryone brings this question here when they know the going rate for anything is what people are willing to pay.
I dunno - if a '32 3W body only can get into the $30,000 range, I'd think a B-400 should be waaaay over that - can't say how much but it's got to be up there. Steve
Those are the most rare of '32 Fords. Very low production numbers, I have seen maybe 5 of them in over 60 years. There was a Hot Rodded one at the L.A. Roadster show a couple of years ago and if I remember correctly it was in the 100K+ range.
Most sources place 1932 B-400 production at 926 units. That's 76 years ago So the B-400 is one of the rarest 32 Fords out there. Why are they so rare ? 1) most folks did not like them as much as a Victoria or a regular sedan 2) they were very expensive when compared to other 32 Fords 3) the depression was in full swing. The value ? 1) if completely original and in good shape ... quite a bit $$$ 2) if rodded and incomplete ... not so much $$$ Desirability Depends ... most rodders do not really want them ( Sorry JimA ) and most antiquers will not pay the big $$$ for a 32, unless it is exceptional or have good history. I have NEVER really wanted one ... they are near the bottom of my list of 32's I would like to own
You said body so I will assume its just that (no chassis - fenders -----) In rust free nice cond. Probably could sell in the 60K range. Personally Id love to have a complete org 32 to 34 roadster p/u, Iv seen less of them. JimA Iv noticed over the years you have a real knack for hallucinating between the lines. In his question there was not even a hint of buying - building - price of Ts - or fuckin rat rods
And most sources are wrong about the production figure. Actual production for the B-400 convertible sedan was 1396 units. There were other production models both in the domestic U.S. and overseas which are rarer, such as the B-410 Sedan Delivery (403 units), B-76 Roadster pickup (593 units) and Type 302 and Type 304 roadster utes from Australia as well as overseas variants on U.S. bodies, coachbuilt bodies in Britain and Germany and local derivatives in many other countries where Ford had manufacturing operations such as Denmark and Spain.
EVERY early ford lover would be interested whether rodded or original, cut up or incomplete. its worth GIANT money! get some pics of it.
That's WHY I said one of the rarest I did not say the rarest Cabriolet 6,091 Convertible sedan 926 Five-window Standard coupe 51,794 Fordor sedan 37,363 Panel delivery 6,122 Phaeton 2,490 Roadster 12,597 Sedan delivery 400 Station wagon 1,383 Sport coupe 2,911 Three-window Deluxe coupe 22,148 Tudor sedan 124,101 Victoria 8,580 It is generally accepted that record keeping in 1932 was NOT as accurate as it is today ... Sedan Delivery production numbers vary ... from source to Source ... from 392 to 408 units ... other vary also ... depending on WHO you want to believe.
The figures I gave are from Ford records and I know it is hard to believe, but Ford did actually produce vehicles outside the U.S. so if you dig a little bit deeper you may come up with a somewhat larger production figure, if you accept the radical concept that there is also life outside of the U.S.A.
Being a Studebaker truck person, I never heard of one of these. So I am wondering what is so special about these. 2 seconds on google and here is a page on an auction for one from June 2006 with a photo - just shy of $124K: http://www.carcollector.com/MarketJournal/RMDingmanFordsCCOnline.pdf Hmm, I prefer the standard A coupes I think, but that is just me.
Back to the original question, is the guy selling a B-400 BODY or a complete car? If it is a body only then the at some point in time the rolling chassis was worth more to someone.
Who was it that was offering the B-400 conversions a few years ago? Seems like they were starting with Tudor sedans & converting them to B-400's. I saw a pair at Louisville in '05 or '06. I'd kill for a B-400. JH
A buddy of mine in Manitoba has done 3 or 4 of these tudor to B-400 conversions. The frst one had magazine coverage 3 or 4 years ago. He's done one or two for Cornhusker. Very convincing.
Wow, Oldisgood you sir are on hell of an ACEHOLE!!!! You knew what the car was worth, and yet you post stuff like this to generate publicity by demonstrating how much of ASS you are. I don't think I want you promoting or selling any of my cars.
Sounds like cardinal dishonesty to me. Perhaps next time you would be more transparent in your dealings on the HAMB. The fastest way to piss off a whole load of HAMBers is with a dishonest 'fishing trip' and deceptive 'For Sale' post such as as this one. And using the expression 'thank you for your indulgence' is so damn patronizing and condescending - just who the hell do you think you are? May I suggest you are on the wrong forum and should go elsewhere with your deception. Have a nice life!
hey, if you dont like the guys post dont respond, IT IS THAT EASY. but still at least get us some pics of it in the barn. jeff
Did anyone really ever believe this guy didn't know what a B-400 was? Anyone who knows that the car is a "B-400" & has enough sense to find the HAMB on the Internet also has enough sense to search the Internet & get a rough idea what a B-400 is worth. JH
Ok I'm new to the 32 numbers game but I have a question concerning the 32 panel delivery numbers. I work for a guy who has a V8 Panel Delivery that is complete but unrestored. He tells me that there were 984 made and also has a old magazine article hanging on the wall stating the same. Is this correct?
