    Hey all,

Slight change in direction on my 32, the truck body has been sidelined and a brand new brookvile will be taking its place, a big commitment money wise, but I'm happy to not have all that body repair and****embly to deal with! The body came with a really nice RHD 32 firewall too, so at least Ill have some original sheetmetal in it!

the chassis is nearly ready to be torn down, blasted and painted, still have to set some rivets, and drill a few holes. exhuast was fun, its all stainless, the mufflers are spiral auger style sidepipes off a grandsport corvette, that were surplus to my dads needs..engine is a 39 merc 99A ,will be quite mild, just cam, shaved heads, twin carbs, hiddden elec. ignition. trans is a Supra 5 sp. on an australian made adapter, open drive conversion using toyota parts.

Steering is 39 merc, as are brakes, wheels, diff, and all sorts of little bits.

it will be a highboy, not very low, black , full hood, stock body hardware, dark red interior, off white hood. bit like the pete henderson roadster in stance and simplicity.

obviously getting this new body has motivated me a lot, so im flat out on getting it together now..

Having looked over the brookville body pretty carefully, im nothing but impressed. as im wanting to make this car look as stock as possible, and not over finished as some are these days, the finish as delivered is good enough to hi-fill, block out, and paint.

That's a beautiful chassis. I like the tasteful use of dimples, especially the big ones!

Really nice. I would love a brookville body but they are out of my budget. It amazes me how talented some guys are.

Like your idea of not going super low. It's going to have perfect early vibe to it. Keep us posted as it goes together.

Yep the RPU is off to a very happy guy in Perth, I recommended he not drive it over the nullabor. .. :)

little more fourties looking than coreys, not as low, and a lot BLACKER.

Nice details on the chassis, the rubber bumper on the rear axle rather than the chassisis is unique. I always feel bad about the cost of shipping parts to Australia, getting the Brookville body there must really add to the build cost.

Uh.. yeh pretty expensive, but, I didnt import it, bought it locally, I couldnt import it for close to what i paid due to the aussie dollar being about 65 cents. this one was brought in when the dollar was 90 cents..so it worked in my favour a bit.

I agonised over that bumper , seemed more logical there. i get funny influences sometimes..Im off to look at a Bugatti restorers stuff to get some inspiration next week. dash will follow their random, but logical layout, if you get my meaning.

Looking forward to getting my engine built..thats next!

  14. Can't wait to see this one finished Ben. Think its time to get some more stamps in the ol' passport and head on in to see it in person. The body was a wise purchase, certainly save some time on bodywork! Really like the direction its taking and what's planned. Yet another head turner for the right reasons.

    looking good !!

heard the other day the RPU is headed our way, we need more traditional styled cars over here.

gets me motivated seeing this, my tudor is completely stripped with the chassis on a rotissery for paint, the body on a special stand for final prep like the frenched caddy tail lights and the motor is on the engine stand waiting on the last couple of items from Hotheads.

  17. LS I love that chassis man....very very nice !!

Didnt know the RPU had gone but hey, if that roadster body when done is gonna like like Hendo's roadster, Im gonna love it.

The Pete Henderson roadster is one of my fave roadsters of all time !!

Might have to swing past the shop for a sneaky peek !!

    NICE !!

Great to see Ben, I think you made the right choice. You might find this one a bit more difficult to want to move it on when the time comes. Glad to see you have some enthusiasm back, 32's will do that to you. Well that and drain your wallet and an alarming rate.

Man, that chassis is beautiful, and the Brookville isn't too shabby either! I can't wait to see this one, it's going to be a cool little ride.

Love the work on the chassis. Couple thing for ya. Front shock brackets. What are they off of? And are you guys down under required to build the cars with right hand drive? I have always wondered if you have to switch steering if a car comes from the states.

front shock brackets are 39 car rear shock lower brackets, bent 90 degrees or so between the mounting holes. Ive tried to use as much stuff from a 39 merc sedan I wrecked,as I can.

we can drive imported cars left hand drive if they are over 25 years old (i think its 25 years?) my shoebox is LHD.

building a rod, it would be a bit odd to build it LHD, Im not sure what the rules say about that, never considered it.

Very Nice! Are those 39 pedals too? If so, have you got a close-up pic?

  30. Just yesterday I was checking your Frame out on another linc. You have done some Fine Fab work there and the Choice of Body is Right on. I'm impressed. It's just To Bad,, To Bad it's not in my Garage with My name on the Pink. I really like what your doing there. Good Old School flavor and a real drivable Rod. I hope to pull off something close in the Near future.
