Just buy the thing Clark! Build it, drive it, get it muddy, then sell it if you want to so you can have some dough for the bubble top! Just think, 32's are GREAT for MAGAZINE coverage and TROPHIES!! [IMG]

Hey wait did I see that car in ______ 's garage?

  3. I guess the biggest reason I am thinking twice is I like being different. I'm not the type that has to have a 32 cause it's the cool thing. Don't get me wrong I like the car. I will have to make sure it doesn't look like every other 32 five window out there. I think my photo shop is different enough that it won't look like all the others even if it is flat black (mostly)
Well I guess you guys will be seeing the RPU on Ebay in the next couple of weeks. The guy that has the car is a friend and should hold it for me.

I appreciate what you are saying Clark. Different is good. You'll figure out something to make it your own. Maybe a little more (or less) than usual on the chop, maybe no chop at all and a section, you get the pic.

    Good luck.

Listen, you know I'm half-way grey beard, half way 12 years old. I know your ole lady a little, I say that coz my recommendation is KEEP BOTH! Drive the RPU, finish the Bubble, put the coupe on the shelf a while. She will understand. 5 Window, need more be said? You can skin dive for Roto Rooter on the wekends for a few months and recover the cash. Hell, I'll lend ya the money, or trade you for one of those honey's always staggerin' around the Scottie camp. It's been said, they are not making anymore, and they aint gettin cheaper.

Do what ya feel, Clark... I had a 32 ford 5 window and after buying it, I realized it didn't really turn me on like I thought it would. Everybody lives to have a gennie, steel 32 ford. Not me. I believe there are plenty other cars out there for the same money that have better styling. If you buy this thing just because everybody says it's cool, you'd better agree. Otherwise, you'll grow bored with it and sell it off. You could make a killing but that's not my motivation for doing this*****.[playing with old cars] Just turning a buck with old cars makes it a job, IMHO.
Build/buy the car or truck that makes you really excited. If 32 ford 5 windows give you wood, do it. Personally, I'd rather have a 34-35 Buick 3 window. Lots more class, more room and far better styling. That's just my opinion, for what it's worth...ha ha.
Here's my ratty old 32 ford coupe, which I sold to a friend who just had to own a deuce coupe.....it still sits in his garage and still looks just like this..

Man Rocky I've been wanting one of those Buicks for a while. I'm a big Buick fan and would like to build an all Buick rod. So I'm with ya on that. But Clark should be pulling that dam n thing in the shop already.

Z-dude, one of the guys in our old car club spent about 6 years re-wooding his 35 Buick 3 window and updating the mechanicals with modern V/8, 350 turbo etc etc. He used 54 chevy front suspension [!] and sat it low......I wouldn't have used his choices for engine and suspension but it came out great. Was a beautiful, graceful car with wonderful road manners and room for your buddies. I lost my photo of it in a hard drive crash but someday, I'll rescan a snapshot I have to show ya...Not to take anything away from 32 fords......just saying there's life after 32 fords.

DR, You are so right, and the reason I say that is my wife says I have to get her '40 coupe on the road before I get to work on my '32 5w or Roadster. Life's a****** when you're forced to work under those conditions. Yea, right.

By the way...for those that haven't heard...Brookville is now in the process of making 32 3 window bodies in steel. For those with some (relatively) big bucks, they will be available in the not too distant future.

  14. Bob... Too funny!!! The RPU has to go. being out of work is tuff. No biggy the 32 will replace the RPU. Will you adopt me and I can change my name to 325window [IMG]

  16. Ok kid, you're under my wing. Now get yourself back in College! I've met your dad (at Hooters), a fine Slaw Dog he is, your taking a step down but I will have the papers drawn up. The fatherly wisdom I impart to you today, sell the RPU - regret it tomorrow. Everybody on the HAMB has a story to tell about letting go of something precious. Dont wake up at age 40 sumthin and discover yer ol pop was a wise man.

Clark, thats a tuff decision. I'd say that if thats what you want go for it. I can see your delimma. It's hard to come up with something original, something that hasn't been done over and over. I believe that is a problem we face in the "traditional" world today. I know you'll make the right decision, you seem to have a good head on your shoulders. Hell I've only met you twice [IMG]. Good luck with whatever choice you make and take care of that back of yours. later plmczy

345window...I'm attached to my 48. The RPU is a blast and I will miss it but I'm not attached yet. If I don't let go soon I will get attached.

I'm a lot like Rocky in that the 32 is not the end-all-be-all car for me. I may just be really strange, but I like the stance of a Model A coupe body more than a 32 body styling. I really like that forward looking rake you can put into an A with that straight up and down windshield. The 32's windshield is more like a modern car in that it is swept back.

To me, the A has more of a mean look and the 32 has a more of a sleek look.

I guess I'm lucky that I like As over Bs because you sure can purchase an A coupe for a lot less!

Don't feel bad about hanging onto your RPU. That is one sweet ride. However, if you turn that 32 into your 13b photoshop idea, you should get the 32!

  21. Talked to the guy tonight and he said that he won't sell it to anybody else. It's mine as soon as I get the money. He's actually having second thaughts about selling it but said if I wanted it it's mine.
Now...does anybody want a "slightly" used RPU [IMG]

I'm glad you desided to do it.
Your RPU is a great car, With its own style and personality.
I guess I just want to see what you are going to do with that Deuce.
I'm pretty sure that once you have put your mark on it, it will be as cool or cooler as your RPU is.
    Have fun buiding that thing!
