I'm finally getting around to install a trunk handle on my "32 coupe. My question is, how far up from the bottom of the deck lid is the hole for the handle?

I’d recommend bolting the latch to the underside of the deck lid, then drilling through the square hole for a perfect fit.

And make sure that you have a trunk lid latch and not a rumble lid latch. They are different and the rumble lid one won't fit in the trunk lid location.

Did the '32 latch differ from the Model A or are they interchangeable?

Are you saying that the trunk lids for a trunk and rumble seat style are different? If so how are they different?

@Fortunateson Not the lids but the latches differ. Rumble seat latch will not fit in the trunk latch position. This is for a 5 window, don't know about the 3 window as I've never played with one. Never liked the suicide doors on the 3 windows but now my wife has a 33-5 window LOL

@The37Kid Can't answer that Bob as I'm not familiar with Model A's. Would be interesting to find out.

    Something not right there!

The only differences I'm aware of on the trunk latches are the different heights of the snout that the locking mechanism engages with. Not sure which is which, but have had to mill one down to fit in a (cable less!) 3w.

I have one of both style Model A latches, if I can find them I'll post photos.

I'd like to use the aforementioned hole to locate the innards! It's a fiberglass deck lid and using the latch hole to locate the locking mechanisms would ensure placement. Not asking for much, just where is the hole on the outside of the lid located?

  12. How do you want the measurement. Picture with a yard stick taped in place

325W- - - -Thank you so much! That is exactly what I needed. It's funny in that back in Nor Cal in the 60's. guys used to turn the handle facing down instead of up. Said it looked "Dorky" Ahhh well to each his own huh?
    Thanks again,
    Jon

  17. You probably have it done by now, but if not, these are dimensions from Brookville
