Any guys here actually adapted an original Deuce cowl vent to a glass repro body? What kinda vent support did u fab up to allow the vent to rest at the same level as the rest o the cowl? Any tips/advice? Ive got my own ideas, but interested in your experieces.... Thanx... Rat
Wescott puts a cowl vent into their re-pro glass body. I'm fairly sure all the parts are available from them. I think - again, not sure - the steel mechanical parts are duplicates of Ford. A cowl vent is a good idea on these little cars. It makes a big difference, more than you'd think. Only caveat in the hot rod world would be if you have hood louvers, the heat coming out of them goes into the vent at low speeds. IE: 25-35 mph. Once you get the car rolling at highway speeds the air flow over the car changes and the hood louvers don't dump so much heat out and that's where the vent works best. At least on my car with not too far leaned back windshield and overhangs in the front cloth top. My 31 doesn't have one for obvious reasons, but since the fuel tank is no longer in the cowl I've been giving some serious thought to adapting a 32 cowl vent to it.
