I have an original 32 V8 radiatior that is in good condition, except someone had converted it for use with an OHV engine. They blocked off one bottom port and both top ports and added one in the center. I dropped it off at the radiator shop this morning to get repaired. I need to know what size inlet/outlets to have put back on. The radiator guy thought 1-3/4" top and bottom. I just went out to my boss's shop and measured on a 59A. The water pumps measure 1-3/4" and the heads measure 1-7/8". I assume the radiator should match? I need to call the radiator guy soon. Thanks, Neal
Make them match your heads and water pumps. Then you don't have to worry about necking down hoses. I'd bet yours are the same as your boss's. But 8BA's are different (smaller). alchemy
Neal, That's pretty cool to have an original radiator. Mine's a Walker, and both uppers and lowers are 1-3/4". --Matt

Yep, top and bottom 1 3/4". After fighting my way through the spiders to measure the damn thing, I discovered the dimensions were in the nice new clean Bob Drake catalog that just arrived...
Thank you everyone for the info. It looks like I will go ahead with 1-3/4" as planned. There is supposedly a modern hose that can be cut in three pieces to do the top and bottom for a 59A in a 32. Does anyone know the part number or application? Thanks, Neal
I don't know that one, and would like to. I've been looking at '37-38 type hoses, which look like they could be cut and rotated at the top end to do the job. At the bottom: '46-48 hoses are straight. '40 type have a deep jog downward, and can be cut&spliced for alignment. Some late hoses, '49-53 era, have a slight downward jog. MEC/ We're only '32 make a casting with a downward jog.
A friend of mine says he has the part # in a file somewhere. Everytime I see him he says he will look for it. I will keep asking and report back if I hear something. Neal
Hey Guys , the hose I use for a 46-48 flatty into a stock chassie is a CAR QUEST # 217768 it's got a 1" jog in it and works sweet. I can shoot you a pic if you like... thanks continentaljohn
