    OK. I was surprised.

  3. Not a lot on this end to report on. I have been getting miles on the hot rod so it will be ready for the road trip to Cal. this month.
My question to you guys is I am running 500x16 on the front and 750x16 on the back with a quick change rear. Need to put together a spare tire & rim. WHAT SIZE should I carry?

Are you running tubes? Excelsior radials, right? I just carry an extra tube of each size and place trust in the tires.

6.25 x 16 splits the difference, but I don't think they make'm or you should do that.
I too wonder about this in advance. Best I've come up with is carrying spare tubes as well. Mostly cross fingers, I've gone years without flats but... I've also had one on the same day a tire was mounted!

750 and tube you dont want to work the spider gears with a smaller tire on the rear and could get away with a big tire on front to get off the road

I agree Fix A Flat is a mess but it'll save your butt in an emergency. I also have AAA which to date has been good for roadside service.

  11. But I don't have your number........

  12. I really think this is the way to go. Talked to Ken and he says they carry an extra 750x16 5.5 on 5, spare so if I make up a 500x16 I am in good shape.

  14. Well it is coming down to the wire to find out just how good I built this dam hot rod. Sat. the Bones will be here and we will all be heading out to the LARS. I have been over every nut and bolt on this car so many times I can not even start to tell you. I have put over 2000 miles on it just to make sure it is ready...... So it is Cal or bust come this Sat.
Still can't get over my lovely wife is going to make the trip with me in the 3 window. She is a real sport for sure. Hell she even measured the small trunk so she would know what size suit case would fit so she could start packing her stuff....
    See you all in LA......

  15. Dennis I wish you a safe and a one hell of a ride. I hope to one day be able to drive my roadster that far with my wifes hair blowing in the wind. It's gonna be great for the both of ya. Take your time cruze and injoy the land. Come see me Friday in the swapmeet area and I will have some drinks for yall. See you then.

I bet you even got the ol'girl already pointed in the drive out direction.

  20. BOY DO YOU HAVE THAT RIGHT!!!! She is pointed out the shop door and ready to rock & roll all the way to LA.....Have some friends stopping by the shop tomorrow on there way out to LA. and when they pull out I am going to be sooooooo ready to start my trip
Talked to Ken today and we are meeting Peter Vincent & Judy in Grand Junction Co. and then going to do a photo shoot at the home of John Wayne's many films..... Can't wait to see this take place.
Hell the wife and I done a pre-pack of our luggage stuffed full of blankets for bulk to see if we can get everything in the small trunk area and I think what she has put together is going to work. Like I told her if we can't take it we will buy it when we need it. If we don't need it then that is good. We will most likely have to hit a laundry mat at some point, but if not, just pitch the dirty shit and buy some new shorts and socks and keep going.......
To everyone that has never taken a long road trip in a hot rod.....ya don't know what you are missing out on. Nothing like it and it will stay with you forever........You know all us old farts are running out of time. So you best do it NOW!!!!!!!

Yes I haven't forgotten about the the crank hole bezel, just hold on there buddy I've been super busy with other parts of my car.

  25. No problem as I was not trying to bug ya on that issue.
Not one of my top ten right now anyway. Had a group of roadsters stop at the shop today on the way to LA. While here we noticed my right rear turn light and brake light was not working. So after they split I spent the rest of the day running that down. Got it taken care and now have all lights up and running. That dam wiring will be the end of me some day.
Sat. will be here before I know it and the great adventure will begin........

He told me recently that he got it from www.restorationspecialties.com
It's the cool diamond waffle pattern stuff like original pedal pads. Here is the part... #MAT002 $17.50 a linear foot.
