Yes and no. Back in the day it was common practice.

But by to days standard it apperently I'd not so cool.
    I fail to see why.
After I found the thread about the 50's era correct hot rod's I learned to apriciate the difference between a traditional hot rod and a era correct hot rod.
And a 32 coupster channeled over a 32 frame ain't traditional, but it can very much be era perfect early fiftys channeled 32 on 32 frame with bike fenders and springs behind can very much so be an era perfect survivor.

These are survivors and era perfect

can't believe someone would cut up a 32 like that even if it is a repop. looks like patch panels at this point.

He should have bought a Dearborn Deuce it would have been cheaper, quicker and saved a real body for someone.

It's a disaster, but worth saving. I'd be in but nowhere near $12k. If it was approached as a copy of a 32 3W instead of a perfect resto there's plenty there. Putting every flange, dimple, and line back to original isn't going to fly, it could basically be finished looking like a gl*** car but in steel.

Whenever one of you guys goes to look at this abomination, and I know somebody will, be sure to invite the owner to join the HAMB, and tell us all about his vision, then show him this thread.

There is no end to what guys will do to old cars.. There was a "roadster" in North Jersey back in the 70's that started as a channeled 32 3 window.. I have not seen it in decades but apparently the desire for a roadster lead this guy to chop off the top and then add a 1935/35 Ford Roaster windshield and posts I wish I had a picture to share...

I understand that the camel was designed by committee, I understand that money talks and bull **** walks. This, I don't understand and leaves me dazed and confused beyond understanding! Just shows to go ya, all it takes is a deep pocket, a ***** and this will happen every time.

This makes me want to go to the john and burn a mule!

You would spend more $$$ trying to put this back body to 100% original than it would cost to buy a decent unmolested body. If it were cheaper, my vision for it would be to welded it back into one body and get the doors to open close like they should. I'd leave the trunklid filled, fill the rear wheel wells, fill the firewall, and give it a deep channel. It could easily be turned into an early 60's show rod that would be respectable and actually pretty cool.

If the price was lower, I know there are skilled steel men that could save this body and bring it back to original. Remember the guy ( I believe in Europe) that took a really bad 3 window and restored it to a fine body.

Ago, you don't need to go to Europe to find a good metal man. Flop Customs is located in your town, he does beautiful metal work. I bet he could put it back together.

Yes I know , Ive seen his work on here. I was just using the European car as an example. I don't have interest in the car cuz I own an original. I just think if it is original it deserves to be saved.

It was his body and his money. Before this thread popped up only a few people even knew of this body. Now, it's the worst thing since the Nazi's came to power. The guy bought it , cut it up and now it's for sale. So what?

WE CALLED ABOUT HE CAR. APPARENTLY BUILT FOR THE RIDDLER, BUT TOOK THE BODY OFF AND PUT A BROOKVILLE ROADSTER BODY ON IT INSTEAD. IF YOU LOOK CLOSE, YOU CAN SEE THE ENTIRE REAREND SECTION OF THE BODY WAS WIDENED ABOUT 8 INCHES SO THE TOP WOULD FIT. ALSO THE FIREWALL LIP WAS REMOVED AND IS REALLY AN ABORTION. ITS A REAL SHAME.

It is very "period correct" [ this is how you built cars when suffering from PMT ]
