Mono leaf springs work just fine but you will need to notch the frame for clearance, otherwise the spring hits the frame and you only have a few inches on each end working. Then they ride like crap.

  3. Call me weird (lots of people do), but I always make the assumption that cars are alive and have human-like thoughts and emotions.

This old deuce must've been laying there, drifting in and out of consciousness, thinking that the end would surely come soon.

Now he finds himself in the operating room and in physical therapy, being coaxed back to health by an expert MD (Metal Doctor). He must be amazed that he'll once again be doing what he once loved....running down the road with the wind in his grill.

Don...I have exactly the same feeling about cars..they have a soul...

As for the top chop...I will not do it. Prefere the top at original height....and with fenders too. Took me so much time to fix front fenders and running boards that I would feel stupid not too use them.
Regarding the monoleaf spring, I think I will raise the axle a little bit...don't want the car to sit too low in front.
Still not quite sure if will be using the blown 283 or a newly rebuilt Caddy 365 that I happen to have

Thank you folks for the nice words and the hints

Ok, some updates. Chassis is completely mocked up...rear suspension is almost done....just rear shocks and panhard bar need to be done. Front suspension is done...have raised the monoleaf spring a couple of cm. ALso waiting for the panhard bar to arrive. Boxing of the frame needs to be finished. Rear end is AMC 20 out of a Jeep CJ...not my favorite choice...but was free. Tomorrow will place body on the chassis to check for wheel fit inside the fenders...and to make some pics...than will blow everything apart for final welding. By end of july car will go the bodyshop to have last dents fixed and then paint....
    Some pics now....

    Word of advice.
Your rear wishbone mount should be mounted double shear at the front.
Or use a split wishbone kit with tie rods.

Not sure if it's been said or not?? You want to run a panhard bar in the rear so the rear it self can't move left and right in the spring shackels.
