Yeah it does! After searching for and finding matching rear chrome wheels that would take the '40 hub caps I am not sure I like it. I was thinking painted wheels with caps and rings might look better. Seeing yours I think I was right! I have bumpers too. Yours looks great. Dave
Been awhile since I've really done anything notable on my '32 but that is over. Here is the engine on the stand almost ready to drop it in the car. Need to finish up a couple things on the '40 pickup 3 speed trans then it's ready to install. Plans are to have it driving before the snow flies this year. Dave
Awesome! Sell me the chrome wheels! Haha engine looks great, cant wait for it to drive under its own power!
Another quick update. Got the clutch shaft changed in the '40 pickup trans to a '39 and earlier so I can use the '32 lever. Test fitted to engine. Still need to install u-joint and finish cleaning and painting the trans black and it will be time to install in the '32! Dave
Progress! Got the engine and trans installed! First time it has been connected to driveshaft with a u-joint. Other times was just mock up. Transmission all done and painted as well. Here's some pics for proof. Dave
I actually got to putt the '32 around the yard today for the first time! Here are some pics and I have a crappy video that I will post to youtube and link to here soon. Still a long way to go but it does run. Have more parts coming in the next few days. Dave
Looks dang good! I still want one but another body fell into my lap recently... Dave, would you know of any 32 Ford body parts and pieces? Cheers! -Shiny
Time for some updates! I had to pull the engine and trans back out. Turns out the Borg & Beck pressure plate I used was a Mopar, NOT a Mercury ! When I first fired it up there was very loud high pitch squeal. Sounded like a really bad T/O bearing which puzzled me because it was a really nice one. Clutch was acting weird, like when I pushed it too far down, the T/O would cock over and bind on the end of the front bearing retainer. As it turned out, the squeal was the clutch fingers acting like a lathe and turning down the snout of the bearing retainer! Fingers were too long and also did not stick back towards T/O enough. So, out came the engine and trans. Changed the flywheel and pressure plate to a Long style and a new 10" disk. All went back together easier than usual, i.e. the u-joint into the trans, etc. Next was getting the rest of the brakes finished. Lincoln front brakes, Buick drums. All fresh stuff. '40 rear brakes. New wheel cylinders and new '40 M/C and NiCopp brake lines and new rubber hoses. Brakes didn't work as well as they should so yesterday I adjusted the rear brakes properly and checked the fronts which were already correct. Now the brakes are great! Took the wife for her first ride in it around the yard on our driveway, locking up the brakes and power sliding the corners in 2nd gear! She loved it! My goal was to have it together enough by the end of September to take Jerry for a ride in it on the road. I didn't make it. I got the car from Jerry, who will be 87 in November. It's been 50 years since he drug the parts home. Without Jerry, I never would of been able to have a '32 Ford. Thank you Jerry! I still need to do a few more things to make it street legal like wire up brake lights, mount license plate and hang some exhaust on it. Gotta do it before his birthday. Gotta! He lives out of town so I may haul it out there and take it on the back roads. Also bought a '39 Standard generator off Gregg's running '39 after he switched to 12 volt alternator. It's all ready to go. I have 2 other '39 Std gens but they are unknown condition. Get that installed with regulator and wired up and good to go there. Rear bumper and frame horn covers are installed. Sorry, no new pics yet, Dave
Yesterday was supposed to be no rain. Then the rest of the week for 7 days was showing lots of rain. I planned to take the '32 out to Jerry's to take him for a ride. Mother nature said NO! Poured down rain all day yesterday. I thought I might have to give up this year. However, today turned out warm and breezy and no rain! Yet! So off to Jerry's I went and took him and my buddy Loren for a ride. Here are pics of Jerry and I with the '32. Jerry is sitting behind the wheel. The other old fart is me! This was the 1st drive in it on pavement. Jerry turns 87 November 22nd. Dave
Small updates. Got the front bumper mounted. Also added some gasket/shims in the bottom of the F100 steering box as I had it too tight causing the car to be difficult to drive straight if you put any input into the wheel. Much better now. Dave
I swear that last pic looks photoshopped but it isn't! Just backed it up there trying to keep modern vehicles out of the picture. Almost worked Dave
