On a 32 ford 5 window, Can anyone help me with where to find the measurements between the B pillars and the spacing between the B pillars and the cowl? I am setting up the new floor from united pacific and new B pillars. Please see Pictures of what I got going on
Mine is 25-1/2 @ top hinge "" "@ top of hinge "" inside between (A-B) @ Bottom hinge 26-3/8- 7/16th ish inside between (A-B) ""@ top of hinge""" I suggest tack weld , Klenco mock up all before final weld / installation
Let's bring this to the top. I'm doing the same thing only need the measurement at the top of the large bead line from A to B pillars and at the bottom of the door opening A to B pillar. Thanks
Are you referring to the main beltline? & on B pillar there is a step up / out, Measurement I gave was from step ( inside door Jam @ B to flat of A inline with both top of hinges
The cowl I'm using has the windshield post laid back at the hinge, that's why I need the measurement where the main bead line is, ( inside door jam B to flat of A} Thanks
Gary, mine are 28 1/8 drivers bead line, 28 1/8" drivers bottom. p*** side is 28 1/8 bead line, 28 3/16 bottom of door. Hope this helps. I am sure there was not the quality control then compared to todays ***emble standards. Those dimensions could probable be + or - a 1/16" from one car to another. Do you have doors to fit with?
Not 100% sure what you are asking, as everyone may measure slightly differently and body’s may vary between the 30 odd factory’s that they were built in. Just a thought and maybe no help, but ; If you can get your firewall bolted in place and cowl sitting right ( we guessed ours ) then b pillar can be lined up on the door dove tails, with door in closed position, perhaps ?
The 5w in shop @ beltline flat @ A to B On this one is 28- 3/16 & 2 inches off subrail outer A flat to B outer flat 28 1/16th, Doors open
Their are a few build here & Threads here like yours, It helps when you have access / together afew to build a Life size Model , One of most well known I believe called the ""Frankenstein 32 "" started in Va then was sold to A guy in Sweden, New Zealand ? !!! Lost for about a year by shipping company after left port in Ca, The Gentleman came home one day & a crate was setting in his drive way.
didn’t think about a reproduction ch***is, - I was fortunate to have an original so could mount the holes in fire wall to the corresponding ch***is hole. You can get those measurements from diagrams on the internet or I think that @Deuce Daddy Don ? sells them on here. For us getting the channel of the swage correct to line up with the swage on the bottom of the hood side and having the hood and grille surround all line up was a bit of work. There are also holes in the original cowl that have no bearing on the firewall mounting points, that help to confuse some. Some on here have stated that they are used to align the door gaps. I think possibly others will have a bit more knowledge on this. We also aligned the rear wheel arch to some degree with the original rear ch***is kick up. as you can see we had no bottom 4” - 6”
photo shows holes in body/cowl that many think are for bolting the body down. They may be for hooks to be used to pull cowl over firewall, (which is already bolted down) and possibly not much else. I have seen some put long bolts through them to bolt to ch***is. I have heard some say they can be used for aligning door gaps. - I don’t know. Others will hopefully clarify this.
Be fore any final welds / rivet.. body need to be Mocked up on Frame that's going to be used or a good known frame if plaining to swap body to another frame , all panels, doors window Fame deck/ rumble adjustments need to be set , Not a easy job when every panel & structural part has been removed like pic posted from Op & another.
