Pretty sure that's Dick Martin's car from the 50's. It was featured in one of the small mags....

Here's mine. It's been a long time coming but it was well worth the wait! It's a real old 'survivor' from Ohio. It must date back to the fifties, but I've got very little history. If anyone recognizes it, I would be very pleased to hear from them.
Thanks must go to all my friends on both sides of the 'pond' who helped with my search. But in particular I would like to thank Paul Hobby and Bob Elston. Their help, encouragement and enthusiasm really made it happen for me.

Well, I guess its time for mine, just another 50s survivor, updated a little. Bought in Eugene Oregon in Mar 69. A couple of pics, then and now.

 

I am now part of the Deauce 5w club I just bought this in california been sitting in a gentlemens garage for 45 years covered up he pulled off cover washed it and put it on Craigslist. It has never had a patch panel put in! Man i feel Fortunate! to find this 1, I have to thank my friend in cali who found it idk how to repay him for the find. Heres some pics.

God this one has me all excited! I don't think I'd have the heart not to put a flathead/lasalle combo in there and go drag racing circa 1953!!!

Wow! I saw a few pics of your car buried in another thread and it's cool to get more info. What an amazing find. Congrats! The only thing that struck me a bit curious were the front wheels.

When you get it home what are your plans for it? Too cool of a score!

It's totally true folks !, and I can vouch for Frank,.... furthermore I am pleased to tell you that I am proudly #1,951 on the list of people he will call if he ever sells it,..... ( I am trying to quietly "dispatch" of the others on the list ahead of me,.... . Wish me luck, unless your on the list ahead of me,....in that case, you should get your affairs in order, AH-HAHAHAHA! Thanks Aaoron. the front wheels and rear fenders are the first things to go! The front wheels are general gumbos i think. I am hoping some long time hot rodders will chime in with there opinions on what they think, i am contemplating on leaving it alone and driving it after i go through the brakes,fuel system, fluids, and nut and bolt it and of course the new wheel and tire combo. For now i am hoping to use some 40 ford 4` front wheels idk what i am doing for rear wheels yet i may keep whats on there there. I am considering replacing the to wide rear thats in there with a bronco rear, reasons are the looks and wheel selection. Also i am probably gonna replace the 4bbl intake and carb with 4 97`s and a old edelbrock intake. other than that i have no other plans yet. i bought a nostalgic HOT ROD NOT A STREET ROD.... IMO. So as of right now no plans to change much. I would like you guys opinions! good or bad. But the car was built this way over 50 years ago so for now i think i am going to leave it that way even the paint for now. I was thinking over the winter to redo the paint but it isnt bad and i hate to even change it i am so confused its not funny. My outlook before i got this car was to have a 32 that did 11 sec in the 1/4 minimium lol and that i could give the car a couple of hot suppers and not break things so rearend tranny have to be strong and safe. Safety is of course #1 i dont want to hurt some one or myslef. But idk if this is the car to change up??? Ik i can put the 9 inch in and ( i`m keeping the buggy spring) and just tune it from there or even the rear thats in there and have what i want but to change the car at all is a tough decision can you tell i`m confused lol. It should be here finally 2morrow!! So thats all for now when i get it in shop i willl take many pics and keep posting details of what i find and what i decide to do. I have already got people asking me if its for sale and some really good offers.. But i been dreaming of this since i was 12 and seen American graffiti and i realized when my dad drove us around in his customs and hot rods what it was all about. Can`t wait til tommorow i know what i am going to be doing over the 4th of july weekend, the G/F will probably bail on me but oh well thats life and its about me not her maybe i will find a new one who will like cars....

Here's my Pop's car - He bought this car in Macon, GA about 1989


It's been on those jack stands for about 20 years. He put white walls and red wheels on it back in 90.

 

Sounds like you have good plans for this old coupe. I agree with you about the intake that will be a good addition! Before you change stuff just give it a lot of thought like you are doing. You might be right about the front wheels. I can't see the pics good enough.

If it was mine I'd clean it up, buff out the paint, change the front wheels, get it running, then drive it awhile like it is! Awesome old hot rod. Enjoy it!

I think the car is pretty rad as well. I even like the rear fenders and the only thing that I'd do would be find a more narrow rear end to squeeze those skinny slicks under the fenders. Maybe check how far the grille shell is from stock. Looks like it was moved forward quite a bitt to squeeze the Rocket in there. I'd be looking to recess the engine to preserve the original dimensions of a '32 ford. Front wheels I see small window halibrands if they are in the budget, if not then some off white narrow steelies and maybe put some merc reversed off white wheels out back as well. Leave the paint for a while and clean it up! Love it!

 

That's just aweful, better send it back here.

 

I agree with Aaron on this one, only thing to suggest is to do some research on the era of you car, form an idea and STAY with it front to back. Nice find, enjoy. Jack

Thanks JJ this is exactly what i wanted to hear and from someone like you. I want Halibrands too there big money though and if the right set popped up i would buy them. The rear is going to be changed for sure just bought a 70 Bronco so its the right era per say as they came out in 57 with the 9. The 40 ford wheels are here so until i get others i will use them just need tires. what is your version of clean up the paint buff?? It has nicks and scratches but overall decent.The fiirewall needs recessing but 50 years ago they didnt do that. And yes the grille shell is to far out front. I dont like the head lamps yet they are brass buckets cool but i like the big 32 stock ones and have a mint pair. Thanks for the reply JJ I enjoy your comments through out the board aswell.

 

Thanks jack i agree just want to make sure i do the right thing and what will make me happy at same time. And thanks for the pic i just got wood looking at again.... Beautiful car. and there are so many cool ones here its unbelieveable.

 

Thanks Dave50. By cleaning it up I meant give it a good scrubbing with soap and then wax and buff it as best as you can. I am sure it'll look great after a little work. I think for headlights you might want to check out BLC-J's because they are considerably smaller then the '32 stock ones and will work well with those awesome headlight stands that you already have on there. It's going to be killer once you add a little of yourself into it....in fact it's already awesome!!!

Hotrd32, that thing is just about perfect!!! Love the way that car sits.
