In 1973 I bought a couple of bumpers from Paul Ezra [he made Ford bumpers for approx. 1928 thru 1940] for my 32 Panel Delivery and he told me at that time "If I sell 300 more bumpers I will have sold more bumpers than Henry built 32's". He must of meant a certain body style as I don't think he could of sold over 138 K at that time. A couple of years ago I was telling that story to their plant manager and he told me the previous year alone they sold over 1300 of them.
32's are the real deal hot rod-thus the attraction. Have never owned one and probably never will but would go after a nice coupe if it came around. Kinda got into 40's when I retired and about a dozen have passed thru here but again would love a 32 coupe.
My Roadster and my 5 Window Coupe are glass, but if a steel one feels any better riding around, I couldn't stand it.........when asked if it's a kit, I say yes......you can get them at Harbor Freight...but you have to ask the manager for them, there in the back........I just sold my Steel '32 2 door Sedan to my sister-n-law (64 years old) and to tell you the truth...they all drive the same to me......it's nice to say it's steel, but to a True Car Guy understands....when I look at a steel car I always try to comment on how it's nice to see one redone......I had a guy looking at mine one night..he walked all the way around it looking and talking to his wife...he walked up to me and said.."I've been a bodyman all my life and I can say this is one of the straightest coupe's I seen in a long time"....I laughed and said, yeah, it came out of the mold just that slick.....he couldn't believe it was glass.......but I said that to say this...It's the fellowship of guys talking and appreciating cars that counts...we all know our kids will probably all sell our cars and blow the money on a new Toyota..hehehe.enjoy the cars while we can...AND OUR GRAND KIDS
Always wanted a 3 window. Will never have one, because of the cost , steel or glass. Owning one must be like being a Texan. You cant really explain the pride, it is just there.
There is something to it man, and I can't explain it, it's there, and it can get pretty heavy. -Charlie
I like 20s and 30s cars, most makes and models, but with Fords, 32s are my favorite. They have great lines, and the grill is a very pleasing shape. I would never own one though, i couldnt own anything that popular.
It's a disease,,I've had it for 51 years and I can't shake it. I got my first Deuce at 12 years old,,didn't turn out to well when my dad found out. HRP
Never say never! Isn't that what they say? You don't plan on it grabbing a hold of you, but when it does, it doesn't let go.
I believe the 32, 34 and 36 Fords are the best they ever made. I have cars from all these years including 3 32s. For some reason the 32 just screams hot rod more than any other year. If I park my 32 and 36 coupes next to each other on the street the 32 always gets more lookers and people asking question about it.
It is a disease I guess ... For me it has been an evolution of sorts. I've been into cars as long as I can remember. I started in muscle cars, had several Chevelles, Camaros,& Chevy II's. Then it was trifives...Still have a 55 & 57. Now the only things that I really dig are early Fords, 32's in particular. It seems that as I have gotten older I have a lot more respect & appreciation for the history of Hot Rods, and like it or not, The Deuce is the HOT ROD icon. I am now 37. It took me 4 years to find one I could afford, the "shed find" 3 window. I now have 6 of them...the 3w, 2 roadsters, 2 5w's, and a sedan. 2 are running & driving, the rest are projects (fairly rough ones). Lately, I have been drifting into 33-34's, but not a day goes by that I am not looking for Deuce stuff...can't ever seem to scratch the itch. Maybe an addiction instead of a disease? Sam
Got bit by the bug in '62, the wound hasn't healed yet ! Stopped counting in about '90. @ that time I had owned over 25 of em. Probably gettin close to 50 of em by now. Just this year have gone thru 3 roadsters and 1 5 window.
Unlike all the rest of the V8 era Fords, the 32 never lost its audience. Popularity of 33-34 (heavily favoring the 34), 35-36 (heavily favoring the 36), 37-39 Std. (parts cars, until the 70s), 39 Dlx.-40, 41-48, has ebbed and flowed over the years but the 32 lovers never wavered, some hve never owned any early Ford but 32s.
