What a great car and car story, don't know how I missed this thread when it first started. Thanks for the updates and photos.
As a fellow owner of a coupe with lots of history, I can say I admire y'all being able to do this with your old man.. I know he has got to be proud... Nice work
What is it? Slow and steady wins the race? Not really, but work continues on Da Coupe, and frame is finished and car is being put back together. These pics are from a couple of weeks ago and since then, the motor and bright red powerglide have been installed for the last time. It is definitely looking better.
Update...... Fenders are finished, 327 and powerglide finally find permanent homes, engine tranny and rearend are operable. Car moves and stops on its own. Yippee! Body is next. Will keep updates coming as I can.
Looking good. Is the car here in Wichita or still down in Missouri? I've been subscribed for most of the post. Thanks for posting.
Awesome story. After being a member here for a while, I had just about decided that all hot rods in the 50's and 60's were painted and buffed every weekend.
Great story.....Can't wait to see it done....Long time comming, I bet dad is pumped to the max.......I had forgot about this post until the updated post. Glad it's back....I always wondered what you guys done with the orignal 32 axel, as I still need one...
Thanks for the kind words guys, having Dad drive this thing is all that matters now. Car is in southeast ks and being done by friend of my dads. This would not be at all possible without his help. Word is that the coupe will make 1 pass at mokan this summer just to see if it will raise those front wheels.....
Great story! I'm a sucker for these father-son projects, always like to hear them. Thanks for posting.
It's stories like this that make the HAMB such a great place! Keep at it, looks real good. We will want a picture of your dad on the first drive.
