I took this picture two years ago at a truck and tractor show in Rochester, NH. This car was really done up nice. I have no other info on it, but I thought some of you would like to see it. Especially Tommy. (aka: 32tom)
BOY! It would be interesting to see how much work went into that. I'm thinking it took MANY hours to reshape thae back of the body. I'm also curious as to why anyone would do that to a '32. Wonder if it was something besides a roadster before the conversion. Frank
There was an article in R&C about cust 32 from the factory and one was a boatail roadster like that one, I thing it was one of Edsel Fords personal cars, about three issues back
It looks to me to be a complete custom body. Rootlieb made the hood side panels years ago. The windshield stantions appear to be 35-36. Thanks Paul
I'd love to see that thing parked next to an SJ on one side and a '32 American Austin roadster on the other...How many feet of Duesenberg/Sahknofsky would you like??
[ QUOTE ] There was an article in R&C about cust 32 from the factory and one was a boatail roadster like that one, I thing it was one of Edsel Fords personal cars, about three issues back [/ QUOTE ] It was Rodder's Journal... either the last issue or the one before that. It was built on a '34 chassis.
anyone got any pics of edsel fords 32? or a scan of the RJ article? I think recreating that car would be an awesome project... Is it still around?
I'm with Tommy on the body not being 32. When first looked I thought it had a chevy hood. I like the hell out of it.
there was an article in rod n custom too then, saw it today when i was flipping through some. it was from 03 and i think the cover car was the handmade 32 roadster with the jag V12 in it.
It's interesting but I'm not that sure I like it that much.It looks to be done well and I'm sure a lot of time went into it,but I'd have to pass on that one.
I got an old automotive quarterly that has a section on Fords like that... I'll have to see if I can dig it up. Jay
It's refreshing and rebellious. Sorry, but I get sick of seeing every car trying to look the same, makes the whole hobby boring as fuck. I think the idea "back in the day" was to make our car sporty, so it's DEFINITELY "traditional"*. *TRAD for you cool guys.
I like it, but it's not a "hotrod". That's probably why some people don't like it. They are looking at it as a hotrod, when it's actually a "classic" coach built one off body, as the actual Deusy and all the other high end cars were in the 20s-30s. (or it's a really decieving VW powered soon to be kit car?)
REGARDLESS of what anybody thinks now, that car probably got its owner MAD POON back in the day... (its bitchin.)
