Is this "your" car ? the upper dash looks pregnant, top w/s corners look too sharp, gauges are above center in the cluster, lots of numbers in the "large" speedometer, only the 3 window had glove boxes, but the kick panel looks like non-suicide doors... is this an American ford ?... Lincoln ?
I would say it's a European 32 and that could be a semaphore or trafficator switch https://www.google.com/search?q=tra.....69i57j0l7.9660j1j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8
On the American built '32 Ford 3 window coupe that's the location for the cat's eye cigar lighter. The photo shown is a European Deuce, it has 2 glove boxes. HRP
That is a American 32 dash . Lookin European to me also . The inside door handle is missing also .looks like this is a 5 W or a sedan alsom
Are you asking because your 3-window has a hole there? If so, U.S. made 3-window's came with a cigar lighter in that location.
Thanks, no not my car yes my dash has that hole there. I have seen a ton of dashes looking for ideas but this is the only one i have seen with the switch in that spot that looks stock. This is a picture from this site so if my re-posting it for a question is a no-no please delete. I was just looking for ideas on what to do with that hole. I looked to me like a good way to turn on the windshield wipers.
I used that hole for a high-beam indicator. Bought a fake replacement kit from Mac's, they don't sell the actual replacement. Found an LED bulb that fit the inside hole and wired the high-beam circuit to it.
Its a Euro sedan dash and they never had anything at that location. So many dashes were altered over the years. Here is a pic I took of one of one in a B400 in Amsterdam.
And yet the top rail portion of OP dash is quite different to your post. I can’t help wondering if it hasn’t been customised over the years. The definite crease line certainly suggests so. For 1932 there were a considerable number of different type dashes. Innies and outies, as we call them, 3 windows had their own, European ones were different. I’ve even seen one with demisting vents.
I NEED TO STOP TYPING LATE AT NIGHT ! I’m sorry I FORGOT a very meaning full word , NOT ! That is not a US dash . I’m sorry for the mistake .
For Alchemy ,here are 2 examples of '32 KM speedos (French ) and my '33 KM speedo. The one in post #1 is a '35 KM speedo fitted in a '32 dash.
That was my European 32 tudor. Imported from Denmark and probably built there too. Sold it in 2014. It's now in the UK. Switch is for the "trafficators or semaphores" in other words the turning signals. Hennie
They are Usually an add on. Most were mounted around the windshield post, but some were mounted behind the door. Trying to find a picture of a closed car with them is proving to be difficult.
These pictures came from the EUROPEAN DEUCE thread. I made it to page 11 before I decided I'd spent enough time looking, there's 45 pages.
Semaphores on a European 1933 Sedan, the body stayed pretty much the same as the ‘32, but the fenders were skirted, windshields and dash insert were different too The photos are not the best, but the only ones I knew of. Photo credit to Tony Thacker’s “ ‘32 Ford The Deuce”, first edition, 1984.
It was IMO a Euro B400 but you made a good point and now I wish I had looked closer. I was at the auction of that Museum of Ford's and it was there. The steering column drop in that B400 is a '35,not '32. Many years ago I installed a Euro sedan dash in a US bodied sedan. We had to trim each side 6.5mm to get it to fit as it was to long. Just found a pic of the Euro sedan dash. You can compare with the Euro B400 and see the difference of the top rail from the sedan dash.
Isn’t that the crank to open the window? Doesn’t it tilt out. I know 35 fords has the same thing and it was to open the windshield Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
1933 was the first year for the crank out windshield.32's did not have that feature. They had slide arms on each side.
