32 Ford firewall location

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wfo guy, May 26, 2007.

  1. On the Wescotts drawing for 32 frame dimensions, are any of the holes the original location for the firewall? If not, how far from the front frame horn is the original location?

    wfo guy,
I checked my frame and tourer body and ironically the major hold down point for the cowl is 32" back from the centerline of the front crossmember and where the frame is 32" wide! It is 15 5/16" out from the c/l of the frame and is where the pulldown bolt is fitted with the hole having an indent right on the outside edge of the frame rail. There is another hold-down hole which is 2 1/2" in front of that one plus there is one on the body in line with the pull-down hole but I don't have a matching hole in the frame. You'll have to call in an expert like Bruce Lancaster to answer that one.

pretty much what he said. The firewall bolts down with 3 bolts on each side and the body goes through the middle one.

The holes that are about 46 inches from the very front ( see above diagram ) are for the firewall ...

If you look carefully, you can see the three shiny bolts holding the firewall to the chassis.

  5. Thanks guys. You confirmed my thoughts that I have more work to do.:)
