Just an alert. Watch out for a guy calling himself Christopher Jimenez, Austin Texas. He's trying to sell a good looking 32 shell and insert with perfect bezel on the internet. Being a deuce shell addict I bit. We put together a deal with payment thru PP. After I paid the guy shit backwards. Fortunately PP intervened and in a week or two I'll have my money back. I'm almost 80 and still going to school.
Thanks for the info. Glad you will be whole. There are so many kind and nice people ( like you ) in our hobby. We tend to forget the scabs out there
Can you post a pic of the grille and shell, so we know it if/when we see it listed? Also, he may not actually be in Austin like he says he is. He's a thief and may be lying about that too.
Just checked, ad, contact info and pictures gone. I may have them in my e-mail but I'm a dinosaur and can't post pictures.
Another example of why to NEVER EVER pay for parts with PayPal Friends and Family. If @krylon32 had sent the $$ with F&F he would have been SOL. Glad he is getting his money back.
Glad PP intervened and you didn't come out on the the losing end. Send me the Email Gary and I will post the image for you, I'll send you my email via a conversation. Danny
.A friend in Scotland bought a steering wheel off an Instagram scammer and paid with PP F&F from his US bank acct. PP would not do anything. His USA friend who is an investigator got involved .It took a few weeks but the bank recovered the funds($900) from PP. There is a thread on that particular issue.
I hate that I have to assume the worst when buying online. PayPal creates a bit of the problem by offering F&F. A seller has to choose to pay a commission or ask for F&F from the buyer. The buyer either takes a risk or pays more for the item to cover the sellers cost. Might be better to restructure the premium to PayPal given that it’s so easy for these asshats to take advantage. Happy to see this turned out well, not exactly a cheap item. I wonder how many get taken.
It's easy for a 32 grille shell whore like me to get taken in by a pretty face. Been like that since I was 12.
The problem isn't with PayPal the problem is people think they should get a service they are using to make money for free.
I don’t disagree. But one can end up paying a commission to sell (as should be expected, to your point) and also when buying to ensure there is a record of the transaction that PayPal will act on if things go south.
Case resolved. Pay Pal refunded my payment. I've changed my practices when selling and buying. I understand about the fees but you also have to realize the 100's of millions of dollars PP has in their account belonging to their users which I'm reasonably sure they're drawing some sort of income from?
