There's someone selling new 3 window door skins on e-bay all the time.
Not trying to be too negative but it seems like 90% of vehicles being built on different frames end up never being finished and many of the rest end up looking pretty bad. Here's what my 32 looked like with a different frame and now mounted on a 32 one.

An automatic might be more convenient during snow season and might even be more reliable than the 4 speed. A gl*** body sure would last a lot longer than the old steel **** when exposed to all the road salt.

You need a plow frame for it too? You running a Western or a Meyers? ;)

  5. rich , you are scaring the **** out of me..for two reasons:

    1) you want to put a `32 ford 3-window body on a IH scout frame

    2) your name is TOO close to rick rogers..a customer i never want to see again , but he keeps calling and leaving messages

Lemme guess? White wagon wheels with rusty lug nuts ******* stains down the rims? ......parked next to a rotted out '65-66 Mustang scabbed onto a 4x4 Bronco frame complete with a whipped 351M, no front driveshaft and a load of firewood in the trunk?

If you have a good eye for proportion and pay attention to the details you could pull it off.
    I'd go for a tough, street fighter/60's dirt-Modified look.
Those old Scout frames were prized for making dirt car ch***is' due to their strength and shape.

Face it...your NEVER gonna fool anyone into thinking its a true early Hot Rod from the 50's, BUT you can still make something very cool from the parts you have.

Build it right and you'll have a true HOT ROD...build it wrong....Hmmmmm....

Well...better an original birth than a run of the mill clone like 50-75% of the other 32's on the planet. It's tough to have an original 32.

Anyway...It's HIS pile of body parts and reputation on the line...NOT ours.
I'd rather offer friendly suggestions/advice thru the build than lambaste the guy for having an original thought.

    Whatever...

    Hey,

The direction you are going, with the IH frame "IS" traditional!
If ya study the old photos of ''real'' hot rods, you'll see that
they weren't all "The Rodder's Journal" revisionist history
eye candy! The real hot rodders of days gone by used what
they had, and run what they brung.
It's my understanding Murray built the 3 winders, Briggs the 5
    winders. I've never seen a 3 or 5 windowed Budd body. Didn't
Budd build the Panels and trucks?

Guys, I said earlier I can't get to the shop until Sat. to take pics .As far as the abortion comment the proof will show up next year sometime. We are NOT building a traditional 32 but something we hope will pretty cool as well as differant. This frame has got great lines and it will work.We don't give a rats *** if it isn't a 32 frame:p .Stay tuned the pics should be on Sat. night. I didn't think asking for demensions was gonna turn into a big thing but that's ok cause I'm used to taking an *** busting:D

Did the junkyard run out of El Caminos and Pintos??? Sometimes different isn’t cool. Different is OK in my book. However a 32-3W on a 4X4 frame? That’s just “different for different’s sake“. Yeah, yeah, it’s this guy’s pile of parts, build what you want, blah, blah, blah… I‘m not trying to hear that in this case. This idea could be compared to roasting marshmallows over a fire fueled with $1,000 bills. By far, this has got to be one of the stupidest ideas in the history of earth. I hope for every true Hot Rodder’s sake that what you have turns out to be something far less valuable or better yet, worthless. If what you have is the real thing, SOMEONE NEEDS TO RESCUE IT BEFORE YOU RUIN WHATS LEFT, AND IT’S GONE FOREVER!
Who wants to bet it’s a Model A????

Ya know? sometimes SOME people just don't get it.When you have a very incomplete car ya do what hot rodders have ALWAYS done.Use what you have ,make it presentable to a point, don't care what SOME other people think and drive the **** out of it just because you can.Real hotrodders then and some now didn't and don't give a **** about correctness like having the right frame or anything else, like them, we don't give a **** either:mad: :( :D But on the other hand if it don't work, ohwell we tried

I've been staying out of this one until I see the pics, but your comment here is very telling...

I applaud you for trying to save a car that's so far gone it's just a pile of parts. But if it is what you say it is, it's also worth saving "right" - doors will be a challenge - hell, everything on the 3W is a challenge.

I p***ed up a running 3W a few years back, poorly chopped, fabbed doors, & several other major issues - it would have ****ed all my cash just to buy it & then it would have been years before it would've been right. I left it so someone with deeper pockets could do it (I sort of kick myself from time to time, but oh well).

I'm not a restorer, nor am I a period-perfect perfectionist. I also know we have glorified certain aspects of the old days to the point some folks think that's the only way to do cars when the reality was many were built with what was available, not necessarily to the formula.

But all that means is there were guys doing the equivalent of the '69 Mach I on a Bronco ch***is back in the old days too. It doesn't make it right. I've built some things just for the hell of it, driven them for very short periods of time, & dismantled them for parts - a '32 3W isn't something you do like that.

But you've inspired me...maybe I'll drop my '40 coupe body onto my Willys Wagon ch***is - hell, they're both sitting in the driveway & it would be easy enough to do....
