I have a new bed for my '32 pickup and a set of the original tail lights and brackets. I am replacing a fabbed bed that used different taillights. My question is this. What is the original mounting location for the original tail light brackets? Anyone have any photos that would clear this up for me? Any help would be appreciated.

This is my friend Dan's original pickup.

They only had one tail light. HRP

Yes, I already the the mounting brackets I'm just not sure where to attach them. This is a reproduction bed I am suing. It is Mack HILS bed, the shortened version and I am just not sure of the attachment point for the bracket.

If it's been shortened it's probably not going to been in the original location. HRP

Are you running fenders? If you are you will run into clearance problems with the shortened bed if you mount the license plate under the light.

    No, I'm not running fenders.

I guess what bothers me is there is just a sheet metal flange about an inch wide to bolt this bracket to and it just seems that with the weight of the bracket and light that is not a strong enough mounting point.

I believe the original bed may have a a wooden sub rail in that area,,I'm sure you can fabricate something. HRP

Yep, that's what I'm thinking. It's gonna need some reinforcement of some sort. Thanks for your response.
