"Later in life I told dad that book probably at that time had cost me a couple 100 grand..." Yeah. I do remember that one of the '32 cover cars that hooked me was for sale in the same magazine for a little over $2,000, which was WAY over 2,000 times what I had in my pocket then...playing catch-up has cost me every nickle I could get my hands on since then. '32's also protect you against vice and all attendant troubles...once you are a '32 addict, you can't afford any other bad habits. Budget rules for '32 junkies: 1. Feed dog 2. Feed children. If they've been good. 3. Check to be sure Sheriff hasn't nailed any notices to front door. 4. Take all remaining funds to Hershey, convert into '32 stuff.
I built my first hot rod back in 1957, it was a 30 Model A roadster. I wanted a 32 but there were not that many around even back then. Took me until I was 50 years old and many other rods inbetween before I got my first 32. Now I have a two and just started another build on an orignal 32 frame. Hope to find a 3 window body to install on it. There is just no other car that hooks you like a 32. Long live the 32 Ford....
Still lookin good Louie, see ya @ LARS in this 1 Rodwell top and windshield to be installed next week
Caught this 'disease ' at age 14 when I saw American Graffiti for the first time and decided that I wanted a 32 5 window. Bought one 4years later, - almost finished it now.
I bought a 32 frame, grille shell and dash when I was 18. The frame and grille shell ended up on my RPU some 25 years later. I am saving the dash for a 5W...someday. I now have better dashes, but I will use that one just because I bought it as a young kid. It seemed like a big step when I started buying 32 stuff...I am still a bottom feeder with my pickup and Fordors, but I buy every 32 part I can afford. Neal
What's a bottom feeder ? The coolest motor I've ever seen is in your profile pic, (I think that's your roadster pickup). And your 4 doors are great.
Like bottom of the food chain...not up at the top with the 3W's, Roadsters, Vickys, etc. I'm still havin' fun though. Neal
I have to confess.... I also have a bit of a soft spot for those goofy one year only Fords.... especially the ones with the backward doors.
You don't have to build a 32 like everyone else's. It's not the cars fault That Most people build The same car over and over again. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Gary Kesslers Yellow roadster got my motor running toward having a deuce. Built my first deuce in 1974. There's been lots of them thru the shop since then. 40 years of building and still going strong. Currently have 3 finished ones in the garage. Talked my body man into taking 3 inchs out of my 4 door body, gonna make a highboy out of it. The deuce fire never dies.
