Hi I was wondering if someone could tell me what I should expect to pay for a 32 ford roaster with a Henry steel body? A hot rod type car with no fenders or hood. Perhaps channeled. Also what is the best way to tell an original body from a new steel body? Thanks Steve

I thought I read this post yesterday with reply's. Were they deleted? Any way, there is a recent post on a channeled '32 found on craigs list in Northern Cal. Reportedly reasonable price, but nobody has stated yet how much. Check the classifieds here. There is a channeled car in NY that is listed for $35K. So what is your intent? Did you find a car for sale & wonder what it is worth? Or are you dreaming about your own hot rod and the best way to build it? If you found a nice original car, I agree with the "Good ol boys" on Ford Barn...Don't F..K it up. If you found a hacked up old rusty body? Anything you can do to make a running car out of it is a plus. Like most "What is it worth? How much should I pay?" threads, we need more personal information about you.
There is a guy named Stewart that posted on the "Deuce Limited" site that wanted to build his dream Rod. When adding up all his dream components it totaled a $80-100K build. His budget was less than half that. After listening to the members suggestions he found a nice Dearborn Deuce glass car that would serve his needs. A member flew in to inspect the car & helped him make changes and upgrades to the interior and chassis. It didn't look exactly like his dream car, but he is ready to cruise this summer.
It's gotta be tough in Alaska, not a lot of population, but they do have a good bunch of hot rodders up there. Portland swap meet is in April, but better yet save up for a vacation to SoCal and the Fathers Day LA Roadster Show.

The O.P. has the same question on Fordbarn, that was the thread you are thinking of.

Yes, I saw that on Ford Barn this morning. Some great replies. I'm sure I saw something here with a bunch of blunt replies that this group is famous for. I thought the Barners were very polite.

  5. This is waaaay too vague. What's the condition of the car? What parts does it have on it?

I want to buy a house with 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Perhaps with a detached garage. How much should I pay?

If you need a steel car buy a brookville. If glass will work Wescott makes a great body as do others.

New steel/glass much easier to work with and much cheaper. Unless of course you have mucho dinero.

Had a Wescott roadster in '80. Cost me $25.00. Lost interest. Fast forward to 2009. Got the bug. Wescott wanted $9500 for their body while Brookville wanted $10,005. HUH ? Now riding around in steel, now worth north of $55K. Do the math.
