I shipped a 289 long block to Oregon last year for around 100.00 Id be glad to ship some combos to mock up.
Your local s**** yard, or trans shop should have some empty housings that are cracked. I used a 700r4 shell for my mock up.
yes, helps alot. thanks. i hate to ask this question, but i was wondering if anyone had a 30-31 coupe body with no frame under it, that the outline of the body could be traced on a piece of heavy construction paper or tag board and and send it to me. i have no access to a body and i wouldnt know of any other way to contour the frames to it. also if you could include the measurement between the rear inner fenders and where the cowl mounts to the frame. i have also been searching threads on the hamb and from what ive seen, the majority of the people say the body on these 30-31's stick out 1-1 1/2" past the frame or are most people wanting the body to sit on top. which would be better to do
thought i would let you guys know, i stopped over a roadsir's place and looked at his 32 roadster. i have never seen a more beautiful car . absolutely gorgeous. i see why you guys are so attomandt about these.
If you search there are some very good threads on model A on 32 rails. there are different ways of doing it. Here is a link to only one of the many threads on this subject. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=311375&referrerid=84932
talking to a few guys on the hamb and the way it sounds the main thing on these other frames when it comes to different years is the pinching in the front. leave the back end alone so they can use the deuce fuel tank. pinch and bob the back for the 26-27 roadsters. alot of guys have sent me some good info. thanks. also followed a couple links guys gave me and there is alot of helpful knowledge there. good stuff. wescotts shows where to pinch front and back for 32 rails to go under 30-31's. to the guys sending me outlines of their car bodies, thanks.. i sure feel alot more at ease knowing there is not an extreme amount of adjusting to fit most car bodies to a 32 rail. i think the worst is going to be the 28-29's. and by the way chad, got a call from denver co. think i made my 1st deal. its for a 30-31. hes just trying to figure out the best way to get it there . its not for sure but he is pretty confident.
I will be in Sioux Falls on the 27th and 28th. If you can meet me in SF, I will haul a frame to Rapid City if he wants to come here and get it. I am 5.5 hours from Denver.
well, i think i am going to build either another 32 or maybe a 30-31 frame starting friday and put that other X member in it. (just tacked in) and prime it. and see how it looks with a little color on it
not to get off the subject of my frames but i found a 401 nail head and was thinking of using it for my build. it's complete and im sure it will need to be gone through. the guy is asking $800 b/o. just wondering if its worth that
Agreed. Sounds like a $200 engine to me, unless you can hear it run. People don't normally pull good running engines out of cars. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
thought i would let you guys know, im going in, in a bit here to do a 30-31 frame, ill have 19-c post the pics so you guys can see it. ill see if i can get them on as i do the build, either that or ill just do them all at once
just waiting for 19-c. i just emailed the pictures to him. i dont know how to resize them to be able to get them posted
its either do this or listen to my wife nag all day. this way i only have to put up with her for a couple hours
here's a question for you guys. when building the "A" frames, how many guys do you think would prefer the back of the frame rail to be bobed
I would think most guys would NOT want it bobbed, as having a Deuce frame means you can run a Deuce tank. Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
I would let the A & T frames be un-bobbed. The owners/builders can then bob them where they wish. JMHO.
Ha,Ha sounds like my inlaws place.I can relate. Her Dad,her brother and now me spend all our time in the shop...even on the hollidays.
