has anyone adapted a 32 gas tank on a 28 model a sedan frame? Dagels streetrod sells a kit for this application. I am not happy with a gas tank on the inside of the sedan. The 28 has a TCI frame with a 4 link rear and saddle tanks wont work. I plan on running a full fender car. thanks, ron

My Model A Had it done by the previous owner. Looked real good from the outside. I have since taken it all apart while fixing the rear end mounts and brackets and have fixed some of the isues with the tank mounting. I also C Noched the frame while fixing things and gusseted the upper shock mounts. They used a kit from what I can tell. It has a Vintiques tank and spreader bar. The rear 32 frame rail extensions are repo also and end right at the axle centerline.

Some of the things youll need to look for when doing the kit. You need to recess the rear pan up under the body line so the Fuel sender and tank pick-up has a spot to sit. I also had to bend about a 4" section of the upper part of the frame rails down to allow the tank to slide under the body line.
Paint the whole tank before you put it instead of painting it after the whole car is together. Youll want to box the frame rail about 8-10 inches after you get them welded on to tie it all together.

That looks real nice Randy. Might not look right on a fenderless car. Anybody have pics of that done fenderless?

  7. I bought my set up from Tanks, just up the road from me in clearwater. That was a super easy adaptation! Fit nice between the fenders, on my full-fendered 29 tudor. Id say go for it!

The 32 frame seems to be about 1/2 wider than the Model A Frame. Thats freaking clever how Vonn Rigg Fink did his to totally box the tank and make your own mounts. Mine are shimmed out with 1/4 thick channel from the Model A Frame and them I boxed them in to incorporate it all.

I redid the rails on my car and "C" notched the frame..... I wish I would've done it like Vonn Rigg Fink did though... Thats Awesome!
