This truck is going to be well worth the effort.

32 bed on 003.JPG Ok again a long time gone but lots of progress made on my '32 pickup.
Wiring is all done. Just a few more items to take care of and it will be fire and test time.
I have had a good mechanic helping me one day a week and he has been a God send.
This is how it currently looks.

  6. And it currently looks great!!!
Good to this thread back up

    Thanks HRP.
Fortunately it has been a long winter and a very slow start to spring here so the temptation just to "quick done it" because the weather is good has not been a factor on this build. I've done "hurry ups" and sooner or later you have to go back and "do over"!

I have to say, my avatar roadster has sure been patient with me.
I just moved it from the back wall to a build position to do a bit more work on it.

Ok......my 32 is now on the road with the exception of a few body repairs to pass vehicle inspection.
The 265 and those cherry bombs make a nice combo.....
The top loader shifts nicely and the rebuilt steering box w/'34 guts handles well.
Looking forward to some shakedown runs.

  14. The truck turned out great!
Congrats, now go wear out some tires.

I have a couple 33 4 cyl caps, pretty rough.
Not sure if 32 and 33's are the same though.

    Thanks.

Send a pic of the caps.....as long as they will go on the wheel, I'm not overly fussy.

  16. This is the nicer one of the two.
If you want it, pm me your address,
I'll send it on it's way.

Ok...just some thoughts after the build and my impressions of the build.

Not sure you hear many stories of how the builder feels about the ride once it's for all intense and purposes "done" and on the road.

When I discovered this truck and saw it for the first time.....I wanted it. I had no idea how it would drive like as it never ran b4 and until now, I had nothing to compare it to.
Yes, I had a '29 RPU that ran for a very short time albeit in stock format then got sold. Also my '29 roadster in stock format for 3 summers. I also had my flathead powered '35 slantback for several years then got sold.
It's not that old cars are not an experience for me........but.....they are all so different from each other.

The frame up build didn't take all that long mostly due to no fancy paint and body work to do and I didn't have any real major obstacles to overcome and things kinda feel in place.
This pickup has a totally different feel to it. Mind you so far I enjoy the feel of it as it goes down the road. Yes it rattles and bangs which I expected but it runs so well and shifts so nice for what it is.......so, my impression is.....I'm impressed I guess.

I need a few body fixes b4 it passes safety and I'm itchin to get it "really" out there on the road b4 old man winter sets in again and when it does, there will be minor improvements over winter but really for the most part.....it's done.

Any of you go through the same thing with your builds?

Here's a walk around of it.

  20. I really like the finished truck man!

I am building my 33 without ever having sat in one, let alone driven one.
Pure speculation of how great it will be.
The anticipation of what it will be like is a big motivational factor.
I am hoping to be as impressed with mine as you are with yours.

    Flowmeister.....Thanks
Do you have a build thread going?

  22. I've posted a bunch of pictures on instagram, but haven't put up a build thread here yet.
I will put one up when the next large milestone is passed, hopefully soon.

Seeing the videos of your truck is a good motivator for me.

    32 alt and new belt 9545 002.JPG

Well, that fixes that! I just switched from a low output gen to an alternator.
When the fan kicked on the gen volts dropped below 12 now with the alt....13+- volts.....throw the lights on as well and still well above 12v.......I'm happy!
Took me several trips to several auto parts to find the right length belt but definitely worth it.

I went back and reread this entire thread twice wondering how I missed the switch to the sbc! What a nice surprise! :)

    3WLARRY....thanks.
It has been a split build post and a long interval between them.
